Want to know how well MIT’s Toroidal Drone Propeller performs. In this video we test the drone propeller design by MIT for educational purposes. How good is MIT’s drone propeller? Does the Toroidal design sound any different?

Full Feature Video: https://youtu.be/C10XgojHu44 Also full credit to MIT and their fellow grad students for the basic design. I just used this for an educational video and to satisfy my curiosity, this prop was still heavily modified and different to accommodate the drone. These results are not entirely indicative of MITs real props.
Too much mass trying to break the soundbarrier. Theres a reason propellers taper down to a point of very low mass. Looks safer though lol
this is still noisy
Sorry did you say it was meant to be quieter? I couldnt hear you over the noise of them 😂
"For this, I went to MIT": said somebody, at some time.
sounds about the same i think.
Print a three blade propeller but One would be only a nub the weight of the blade ,. Try that
Its not much quieter from closer distances, but the sound isn’t nearly as “ahhh fuck its a damn drone nearby”, it’s less offensive of a noise, doesn’t have as much as that annoying drone buzz sound
The nail polish is not really a good idea. I understand that the print from the 3d machine may not be ideal either.
But there props really need to be higher quality and smooth prints
move your mouth away from your microphone
new propeller like too much fraction with wind
I think there supposed to be (ALOT) larger and spin (ALOT) slower.
Your issue becomes scale. Power and a way to transfer the torque without burning out your motors.
Gear reduction box, and larger motors, and a larger drone overall will make this quiet design work.
Welcome
Terraria propeller
sounds like the same goddamn person
lol guess they were a fail
нифига не тише))
Que es recoci?
Ни чем не лучше винтов, единственное безопаснее, таким руки не порвет.
Ukraine should use this.against russia..
Any type of varnish like could be sprayed through an airbrush and it would apply a much more even and aerodynamic coat.
you didnt smooth up the proeller, of course its gonna sound horrible.
Fwiw, MIT Lincoln Lab is actually a government research organization that's just managed by MIT.
Bro made a drone powered by bees
sounds like getting too close to a nest…
Battry is dead
it make even more noice than the propellers
If you can’t get a $5 Pop Filter, at least use a sock, or something.
