Thank you for your hard work and helpful contributions!
Great video! Very helpful and the pdf's are great (well-designed too)! Some great styles in the style pdf and this one as well. Mirror lens- that's new for me.
Cannot wait for the advanced video. Poses are some of the trickiest things.
What is your obsession with 'unsplash' in all of your videos? What does it do and how do you know it's not effecting what you're trying to accomplish, like lens types?
hi, i would like to becme your student ,
will you assist me?
regards.
I suspect the Dutch angle shot picked up more on the word Dutch, went with Dutch lighting from landscapes, and threw in a touch of Rembrandt lighting (a term attributed to Cecil B Demille, which may or may not have actually been inspired by Dutch lighting- we'll let art and cinema historians fight that battle) from the portrait side. It's not a classical representation of either, but MJ seems to be doing a nice blend of it.
A word to try would be Chiaroscuro, a lighting/painting technique using dramatic contrast. Rembrandt is a softer form.
Great stuff Nolan, thanks for the pdf!

Thanks again for all you give to the community. 😎✌️
Nolan, you rock buddy! Thank you so much for all you do.
Could you try "action" prompts sometimes? Words that will make the results look like something is happening rather than models just standing still?
Hi
Great, well paced, well informed, well edited post. For what it's worth there are Five "Classical" poses: Right Profile. Right 2/3 Profile. Full Face. Left 2/3 Profile. Left Profile. [This doesn't mean those are the only poses] Unfortunately MidJourney doesn't (yet) understand this. My own test results were mixed — like it was guessing. I hope one day MJ recognizes these poses as well as map specific lenses.
Thanks a lot for the manual. Unfortunately I didn’t received the PDF. Tried 3 times. The older PDF I got.
Thanks! Great content! 🙏🏼
TY. That's really helpful. A term that sometimes gives interesting results is Candid shot. It often delivers a "fly-on-the wall" perspective of the subject in action but unaware of the camera.
A couple of other terms commonly used by Cinematographers that you'll find in most film scripts are Mid-shot and Long-shot.
KUTGW ✌️
try "macro photography" and "cinema photography". those are general terms, not nouns that will trick MJ thinking you want those objects in the scene
Hi there! I'm new to the channel, midjourney and chatgpt4 as well. The thing I do know a fair amount about is photography. So, I've been prompting 8×10 camers, some pretty funky old portrait lenses, to have the aperture wide open, any film I think appropriate for the circumstances AND 1:1 contact printing. The thing is I swear I'm seeing appropriate results in doing so! Now it might be all the drugs I did as a kid or could my brain actually telling me the truth? Another, thing I do that seems to work is specifying a Tracked 4×5 Speed Graphic when that seems more appropriate. Consider that a "pro tip" if in fact its working. Holga does a decent job as well. I know pinhole is supposed to work, but the funny thing is I find that one to be less convincing. Thanks for any thoughts.
This was really great! Also, for anyone who is a kungfu geek like me, set the style to Wuxia style and see what happens when you do the aerial and satellite prompts! You get masters of light body kungfu!
Good content, but your formatting makes the video pointless. Add a small border to prevent bad cropping or add an imaginary margin to your content.
Thanks 🙏🏽
Thank you.
You won't see different results with some of these unless certain aspects of the prompt are different. Starting with the aspect ratio itself, you'll get varying results with different aspect ratios. Also deciding if the portrait is going to be full body, head and shoulders, face only etc. will alter things. An example: a full body portrait using a telephoto lens should give a distinct look that simply stepping closer to the model with a wider lens can't produce, due to the compression of the background. I also find using actual focal lengths (16mm, 24mm, 85mm etc.) produces better results for me than saying "wide lens" or "zoom lens". Even stating the camera (Sony A7iii, Fujifilm GFX100 etc.) can have an effect. So too can adjusting the f-stop affect the look, the depth or shallowness of the focus. Stating specific lenses like a Sony 90mm Macro or a Canon 50mm f/1.2 can also help to get a specific look.
Thank you 🙏
Some people say that artificial intelligence is good, while others say that artificial intelligence makes people less intelligent. But basically, if we consider the goal, it doesn't matter if there is artificial intelligence or not, the important thing is that we should always take steps towards getting better, whether with artificial intelligence or without that dear friend.
Determining the best camera lenses and angles for Midjourney prompts is subjective and depends on various factors, including the specific requirements of the project, artistic vision, and individual preferences. The choice of lenses and angles often relies on the desired visual style, storytelling objectives, and the creative direction of the Midjourney team. Different lenses can offer unique perspectives and visual effects, while angles can enhance storytelling and evoke specific emotions. It is essential to consider the specific context and objectives of each prompt to determine the most suitable lenses and angles. Thus, claiming one definitive set of best lenses and angles for Midjourney prompts would be misleading, as it varies depending on the creative choices and intentions of the project.
For animations how do we make them tilt the head to the left or right?
Funny how all their noses are the almost the same.
I tried these with v5.2 and the results suck 🤣
tks from brazil !
Thank you, it is remarkable what you can do… all we need is inspiration!
Great video!
May I ask why in 12:08 you wrote two aspect ratios?
Thank you very much! The best Midjorney training videos I've ever watched!
