The Hard Problem of Consciousness | Waking Cosmos | Adrian David Nelson

metaRising

Hi everyone. Today I read from my book Origins of Consciousness. This will be the first of a series in which I will read the entire book. Next time on the Waking Cosmos podcast I talk with Dr. Dean Radin, about scientific experiments which challenge the materialist view of the mind.

  1. It's my belief theoretical consciousness studies has jumped ahead of some foundational truths. It seems our brains are primarily measuring devices, correlating our position in the cultural physical world with what our imaginative faculties suggest we can achieve. Our imaginations create multidimensional movies of sorts, mapping out strategies one might implement in the real world. So It seems to me there must be some broadcast realm in our brains that allows us to create these multidimensional sensations. What I found and what is mostly being ignored by neuroscience is that the glial cell matrix broadcast signals as opposed to linear signaling by the neurons. Perhaps this glial cell matrix is where our imaginations are playing out and these two systems (neural/glial) create a perception of duality.

  2. Really loved it; you’re work is very tempered and does not reach beyond what supporting points you present. I would love an audiobook read by the author. I can do PDFs and epubs and just have the computer read it but human readers are better. Plus you’re much more professional in your audio readings than many non-professionally produced audiobooks. Good quality, great content. I’d love to see some of your reading list that extends beyond the people featured in your channel (I love the fringe, lesser known works- offers a path to new books).

  3. Thank you, Adrian, for recognizing value in exploring (and thus validating) subjectivity 💕 people like that give me hope
