So he ignores the fact that Regan and Clinton used the same motto on the campaign trail.
The real progressivism comes from the people that just shut up and get on with the immediate task at hand, whether that be looking after themself, their children, the spouse/partner, their parent/s, their neighbour, their community, their vegetable patch, their passion. Action means everything, words mean much less. And I'm aware of the irony of using words to express this idea.
He is conflating Progressivism with the actual Left, Progressives and NeoLiberals often overlap and seek much more reformism — or exclusively only reform such as he advocates in enhancing already established institutions — than actual Leftists & Radicals who are for a system change. I'm just pointing out the terminology misuse here. This is a longstanding historical vocab/term/jargon word with meaning btw, hence the classic book "Reform or Revolution" lol this has been a debate for a long long time now that has continually shaped the left-of-center in politics since before I was born. Just because someone identifies left-of-center doesn't automatically pigeonhole them into the whole, "[let's start from a blank slate for creating a socio-economic political system]." How can a so-called "expert" cratique something logically when such an "expert" has clearly demonstrated here a lack of scholarship on the basic academic terminology lol? This was such #fail, to an otherwise insightful topic (not by you, Brian Rose — but some of your guests aren't as credible as you think they are).

That's what I love most about Dr. Pinker. He's not afraid to call out both sides for their nonsense.
