  1. Here's my current theory about the Red Angel. It's a bit long, but I think you'll find it intriguing.

The Ba'ul had a tiny population nearing extinction when they acquired their technology. How did they even manage to build up a technological infrastructure needed to subjugate the Kelpiens with that small of a population?

Answer: they got their technology from the Preservers, who also formulated the Ba'ul's ideology of the "great balance." This resulted in both species learning an ideology built on species and ecological preservation. Was it brutal to the Kelpiens? Certainly was, but it also gave the Kelpiens a nature-centered ideology so that when the Preservers returned (I still want the Red Angels to be the Preservers. Fight me.) and rescinded the access the Ba'ul had to their technology, they were able to achieve a new ecological balance where neither species would be in danger of annihilation from the other and could make the choice to evolve together in a new direction.

Of course this also implies that the Preservers aren't necessarily a race from the distant past, but interventionists from the future altering the past to preserve species and endangered populations.

Now bear with me because I'm about to take this theory off the deep end…

Alex Kurtzman said that one of his intentions with bringing Captain Pike aboard this season was "to recontextualize Captain Pike's eventual fate so that it's a triumph instead of a tragedy."

What institutions on current Earth are often pivotal in the preservation, breeding, and repopulation of endangered species? Zoos. What advanced species that once had more advanced technology operates and maintains a zoo of rare creatures from around the Galaxy? The Talosians.

We already know that this season will eventually take the story to Talos IV. What if the Talosians are in fact the once and future Preservers?

What if the Red Angel is… Vina?

It's already known that the Talosians once had a greater technological capability than they exhibited in The Cage, and that their technological capabilities atrophied as their mental powers increased. What if Pike and Vina wind up resurrecting that technology?

  2. Once again a great video, Dan! After each DSC episode, I always look forward to each of your DSC review and then wait patiently for your deep dive video. While I'd wish the deep dive video could be out earlier, I do fully understand you really need more time to dive deeply. Again, thank you very much!

  3. I still think that the Red Angel has something to do with Zora and the reason why the Discovery would eventually be abandoned , Could the Red Angel be Craft ? He's from the 33rd Century and the Red Angel looks similar to the tattoo of the Cyclops Owl that Zora spotted on Craft's back, a creature native to his home world of Alcor IV , if it is Craft could he be trying to help Zora ?

  4. I said this last week but I have to say this again; you are way too creative in your theories.
Alex Kurtzman does not have the talent. creativity or the desire to tap into Star Trek lore beyond the superficial props or sets.
    This show is awful.
