Anki Overdrive ! the world’s most intelligent battle racing system.
The first time you see Anki’s robot cars racing round the track in front of you it seems almost like magic.
It looks like Scalextric, and is easily as fast, but this modern incarnation of slot car racing comes without the slots.
The cars read the specially printed track and can steer themselves round any course you clip together. Up to four players then use the smartphone app to control the car’s speed, virtual weapons and lane position.
The new starter set won’t just be a rebranding, however. Two new highly-detailed and satisfyingly robust-looking supercars will be included: Dom’s Ice Charger and Hobbs’ MXT. The new companion app will let you battle with and against key characters from the films including Dom, Hobbs, Letty, and Tej. Given the amount of “car-fu” that goes on in the Fast & Furious films, it’s slightly astounding that Anki didn’t team up with them sooner. After all, playing Anki Overdrive is as much about taking out the other vehicles as it is getting to the finish line.
