If there’s one key factor securing America’s economic prosperity and military superiority, it’s not oil; it’s chips.
No, not the chips we all love to snack on during movies, but highly efficient computer chips. Chips that power pretty much everything from our military machinery to our iPhones.
The United States held the top spot in crafting the fastest chips on Earth for a long time. But countries like Taiwan and China are catching up fast. This unfolding race that will determine our future has been thoroughly chronicled by today’s guest, Chris Miller, in his book Chip War.
Wanna know what he found out during his research?

Yes I "hear" the thought amplifier from time to time reminding me to "Check my six" Military analogy.
Even the American Indian would benefit from the Biochemistry shop with all the "Milking" machines
Nice work
description box
This guy is a joke to think that China and Russia will "collapse" before US.
I saw first hand what China is doing in developing countries worldwide. Instead of starting wars left, right and centre they are building infrastructure and giving locals a job. Yes, their jobs are among the better paid ones. They are constantly being portrayed as the villain, but are they?
Thanks
Chiana is not Russia !History of China is simple : they not invade any country ! ivaded by huns tatars mongols japanese ! China is defending for millenia!
Is this fkn foreal?
China population : 1,425,379,808 ppl
USA : 335,893,238 ppl
Now I'm all for "us" 🇺🇸
But if every single person died in the United States. And China lost the same amount equal to our loss…
China will still have 1,089,486,570 ppl left. A fkn billion.
Why do you think we spend so much on our military 💯
China is the future. bb
Warmongering 🧐🤐
Excellent conversation, thank you gentlemen.
Chips will end and BIO will be the player of choice. Water has more memory than Silicon
Great talk one of the most important topic in our times….
🔥 content!
😮😅
The real Americans are the brown people of Mexico, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Bolivia, etc.
1 inferred mass of largest known black hole = ((c^3 ℏ)/(G Rydberg force 4 Stoney length)) is incalculable in the above format for AI to add or multiply.
This podcast routinely makes me regret not spending my youth gaining knowledge. 😅
Can't stop listening I learn so much each and every episode.
❤️✌️
Great discussion, Dr K. Thoroughly enjoying your show.
I pay youtube to not get commercials every 5 min.. plus im from skandinavia and this is to much .. i understand you want money but then lake a vetter more interesting podcast
Some people just refuse to believe that China is evil until they experience it themselves. As a Taiwanese, I'm constantly baffled seeing people learn that the hard way, they somehow still feel surprised when they get smacked by China.
To many commercials and you need to let the guest talk
On top of everything, China is a communist country ruling by a dictator
Chinese investors (govt?) are buying up U.S. farm land, especially near U.S. military bases. Go figure. Belt and Road?
So, buy call options on ASML?
What’s with the cut at 27:49?
Thanks
Is this so? The machines that make the chips are mainly built in The Netherlands (ASML) and partly in Japan. China only receives the older versions of ASML. ASML is at least 10 years ahead of the Chinese. The latest version will also be delivered to Califonia and not to the Chinese, so there is nothing to worry about in Silicon Valley
I discovered you on Lex's show and instantly knew this is a guy I want explaining the universe to me. I too remember the feeling tie first time I saw the rings of Saturn using a telescope, I was 11 years old and lucky enough to have brilliant older brother that showed me and told me about the amazing unnerves out there. My favorite person to listen, today is Brian Keating, Never stop.
The best thing about this rivalry is that i don't care who will win .
The US already lost in this war because non of the US action is logical and China on the other hand had step by step approach in developing their semiconductor industry. Chris Miller here is out of his depth and he has not updated his knowledge about the industry.
