Episode Description

This week a lot is going on as the city prepares for F1. The Neon City Festival has announced more acts for that weekend along with their stage schedule. We also saw a rumor that F1 might pull out after this year, but that likely isn’t going to happen.

In other #news a downtown Las Vegas institution The Cocktail Room is closing after 18 years. We also discuss the end of Cleopatra at Caesars Palace, Shawn’s disappointing Hofbrauhaus experience, Silver Stamp Halloween, Sahara’s new slot concept, button slapping art, where native Nevadans live, Swingers golf prices and pizza, F1’s fake NYNY flag and how Vegas is now connected directly to Dublin.

  1. For authentic German food, try Cafe Berlin on Sunset and Decatur. The owners and some staff are from Germany. Very good food. Call first. Sometimes you need a reservation on busy days or nights!🙂

  2. I wouldn't count on F1 going away anytime soon. Liberty Media (f1 owner) spent a lot building the paddock. They are an American company who has steadily increased the value of F1. They wanted to increase revenues in the US by having more races Miami, Austin, Las Vegas. Montreal is really close to New York and Boston so they have that too. They want to add New York too for a race.

  3. My wife, I(Palazzo), and 315k fans attended F1 last November. Liberty Media invested $400 million+ into their lands permanent paddock building. F1's not going anywhere.

Geez Mark, you're bummed it's no longer $25k per lie flat just to fly to Ireland! Delta One SLC/Paris nonstop $8000 rt…..

  4. Yes to go with what you said at the end slot machines have really sucked the last few years. The amounts for betting have gone way too high for the same if not even less of Jackpot win amounts. They are extremely tight on the strip that last time I went I stayed 4 days at Bellagio and got one bonus on one machine the whole time it was pretty gross. But I really do miss the fun Michael Jackson machines, movie and TV show slots Alvera was a great one they are all mostly bland now.

  5. Thank you to our co-hosts for this Tuesday segment. Always appreciate your research and graphics, images and insights. Tell F1 to go to Pretty Prairie, Kansas and leave The Strip for pedestrians and gamers. What will be next? A “tractor-cade?”

  6. anyone else HATE live music when eating? just let me eat in peace and, if we so choose, have a conversation with my tablemates. live music and dining out fit together about as well as vegans in a slaughterhouse

  7. I went to Hofbrauhaus for the first time about 5 years ago, and I thought I would get that Munich type atmosphere. Same experience as you: good food (a bit overpriced) but disinterested service.

  8. We've just flown lufthansa from Dublin to frankfurt then frankfurt to vegas!! Long trip!!! Thankfully flying home with aer lingus on Saturday direct to Dublin!!! Staying at excalibar ATM, sorry guys but I love this place lol

  9. Looked like Sunset was wrapping up their sign (not sure why this is a big deal since Boulder Station did theirs last year). More importantly, Costco gas station update off Station is almost done

  10. F1 made more money last year than 1/3 of the rest of the races combined. Several times what it made in Monaco, it's former top grossing event. It's never leaving, as the city made a billion in revenue last year from it as well. Despite the blood rage of some locals being inconvenienced for a few minutes in traffic (who then spend their days talking about how they avoid The Strip whenever they can). These same people would literally have a stroke if they lived in San Francisco. lol. They have no concept of actual bad traffic.
Of the events in the city in the last decade, only last year's Superbowl beat it for first place. It's that much money.
OR – we could go California's route and start charging state income tax. We gain a lot from tourism, so it boggles my mind how people complain about it. The alternative is higher taxes.

  11. You can see the Alpine Village in the background of James Bond Diamonds are forever…. They pull into the gas station next to the Alpine Village…. They had great food and Beer both upstairs and downstairs… loved watching the Alpine trolley cars as we ate …. Such a great place… So was the deli in the Golden Gate and who could forget the Pancakes at Dupress’s the coffee shop that used to be in the GG as well 🥲

  12. We played Popstroke in September and were really impressed. I believe it was $30 for a full day – opening to closing. 36 holes in the heat was all we could manage. It's another fun thing to do other than gamble.

  13. Mark crapping on everything is getting on my nerves. When he crapped on the new miniature golf place and made the mistake a lot of people make by calling it "Putt Putt", I unsubbed. Last straw thing I guess. I'll probably check in some time in the future. These guys give a lot of good news, but the constant complaining is a bit much.

  14. F1 Is the stupidest, most retarded idea that Vegss ever did. Some political officials obviously got paid off, to allow F1 to totally disrupt the strip, and inconvenience hundreds of thousands of tourists, and strip workers. How sad, and totally unnecessary.

  15. Fantastic show as always! Just to circle back to Hofbauhaus: I want that place so bad to do well, but I had a similar experience my one and only time I visited. We have a German pub here in LA (Red Lion Tavern), and every item and drink at Hofbrauhaus cost more than twice as much. I'll still support it and tell people about it, perhaps they'll have a more positive experience than either of us. Thanks for putting on another great episode. Til the next show, cheers!

  16. I agree with Mark, they should have used that space more for lounging/tables vs just more slots. I agree the Sahara is getting kickbacks from the machine manufacturers to see which ones are keepers vs bums as far as what people will play. Corporations are all about making more money and nothing else.

  17. Were in Vegas on October, and it feels like the machines are tight including video poker everywhere we go. It comes to a point that playing is no fun anymore.

  18. We just drove by Hofbrauhaus the other night and still haven't been in it to this very day. Really bad, weird service and a spanking? Sounds more like Caesars than anything else. Hard pass, thank you.
