18. It's a funny because most fans are going off face value. i.e. shocked that Leanne would break up with Mike so brutally. But there are so many unnatural elements. One, they've only known each other 3 weeks. Two, they're on TV 24/7. Three, Leanne in particular has a 'race' to be upheld and a gender, will be judged and compared to all the black women beforehand. The female contestants of other races don't have that pressure. There's no way she wouldn't be aware of that, since black Twitter has been a strong force in Love Island. Four, since they're on tv you have to say the right thing and keep your instincts and automatic reactions in check. I can only imagine that gets incredibly tiring if you're not used to doing that your whole life. Maybe Leanne can't be bothered ignoring all these components. Her brutality to Mike wasn't just for him but the 'Love Island' reality tv show model. I don't think it was conscious though. I don't think Leanne is that intelligent (no tea, just saying, she's not the deeply contemplative type, nor should you be if you're on tele, you'd probably go insane too quickly).

    I wanted to also say that while they have only known each other 3 weeks, there seems to be attachments and co-dependency that develop really quickly. Hence even though Leanne broke up with Mike, she felt an absence after, which she didn't probably expect because she doesn't fancy him. In that way many who say they are "in love" are actually just "I'd be uncomfortable if you weren't around" – even heard Finn say that to Paige in his speech. No one should really feel flattered about that. Since they are in a foreign country, in a unique experience, it would be quite scary without a comfort blanket.

    Needless to say, I'm a massive fan of Love Island, but I'm getting a bit tired of it. That Sophie would ask Nas to keep her in is not a huge shocker. "Hey you're my friend, we're all here to get instagram sponsorship, the longer we're in here, the more famous we become, so please keep me here so my future can look brighter. Chances are you won't last with Demi. She's not really your type. The moment you (Nas) get out of here you're gonna have the pick of UK. etc etc". We've seen after 5 seasons that only 3 or 4 couples stick together out of about 60.

    I think the LI model needs to shift a bit to adapt to the breaking fourth wall, to keep the show fresh and exciting. Which it was in the beginning. i.e. maybe a friendship couple could win. I want a Catniss shooting the ozone of the island with an electrified arrow type-moment. Fingers crossed and thanks to reading if you got this far.

35. I honestly don't know why Leanne got all the hate although she was just being honest with Mike and was Not a gameplayer. I mean she could've played it safe and stick with Mike. And I don't think she was "brutal". She poured her heart out to the girls (I know it sounded harsh how repulsed she was from him but I know that feeling where you want to make it work with someone but it just doesn't and little things about them start to make you so aggressive but in reality you're just mad at yourself for not liking them the way you would like to like them) but to Mike she was polite but spoke clear. Sophie on the other hand clearly plays a game but with all her giggly cute self you forgive her

37. Shaughna said she always picks the wrong guys…well, she's done it again with Callum. He was never really interested in her other then as a friend. He latched onto her to stay in love Island! Her self esteem and self worth are not the best and she comes across as a little desperate. The poor girl just wants to be loved for who she is. She needs to work on herself to attract a guy who will value her.
    Callum is so not suited to her…he is far too selfish and shallow.

38. People are putting too many feminine traits on Male behaviour. The way a man gets over a woman is by getting with another woman. Simple as. He's not a snake he is doing what men do but in the confines of a villa. On the outside he would do the same thing but out of the view of Leanne. In there there was no where to hide. He was treated horribly by a girl he liked and was respectable to and moved on. Stop making excuses for Leanne.
