When computers, robots, or even intelligent chairs become sentient in the future, switching them off would be seen as heartless. They could attempt pleading with you to change your mind. However, a genuinely intelligenct smart technology may encourage something more extraordinary, if it had a sophisticated grasp of society and human psychology. In the end, you may not be able to turn it off at all.
Does the robot have the capacity for sentience, which would then allow it to have its own free will and decision making? Or is it merely programmed to look human in its behavior?
At first glance, the AI did a pretty good job of showcasing how human is capable of thinking, feeling and having hopes. But I would still call it imitating the human way of communicating, instead of being an independent sentient being, one that can think on its own. After all, GPT-3 is just a huge database of human knowledge, and it can perfectly simulate human behaviour by imitating what it has seen before.
Additionally, the idea of sentience is not a binary choice. Of course, your levels of intelligence, creativity, self-awareness, and linguistic proficiency might range widely. After all, perhaps the real question would be: how smart must an AI be, for us to begin treating it as a sentient being?
What happens if an AI passes the Turing test?
The Turing test is actually not a new concept. In fact, the framework was first proposed in 1950 by British computer science pioneer, Alan Turing. The original idea was to examine a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour, that is indistinguishable from a human. In the original formulation, Alan Turing proposed that a machine could be considered “intelligent” if it could fool a human into thinking that it was also human.
Due to the rise of AI technology, the test has been getting a lot of exposure, and drive popular imaginations among the public. And the publication of the GPT-3 model by OpenAI has generated a lot of buzz about its potential to pass the Turing Test. Just what exactly the test really tells us? To answer that question, let’s go back to when Turing first laid out his thesis, entitled “Computing Machinery and Intelligence.”
In the paper, Turing proposed the following experiment. A human judge is engaged in a text discussion with unknown and unseen players. Then, the judge will evaluate their responses. To pass the test, a machine needs to replace one of the players without substantially changing the results. In other words, an intelligent machine needs to be good enough at imitating human behaviour that the judge can’t tell the difference.
From the paper, Turing predicted that by the year 2000, a machine with over 100 MB of RAM, would be able to easily pass his test. And as it turns out, Turing was right. In 2014, a computer program called Eugene Goostman, passed the Turing test by convincing 33% of human judges that it was also human.
But as digital computer became more and more common, and their processing power increased exponentially, the relevance of the Turing test has diminished. Just in the past decade alone, there have been quite a few AI systems that have claimed to have successfully passed the test. For example, Google’s AlphaGo Zero program, which beat the world’s best Go player, was able to do so without any human knowledge.
So the big question now is, does it mean that some machines have achieved the human-level intelligence?

Why can we not have aging now
Glitch AGI now
Make them be programmed to fight a sasquatch apocalypse coming were more worried about them nephilium cannibles things we can train them to kill these creatures
Bad idea to make conscious robots.
What do people gain from worrying how smart or sentient AI can get? People should try to think more positively beyond the realms of man's dark side. I know terminator could happen there's no doubting it, you guys are the living proof of it. But, as Iam Malcolm says in Jurassic Park "Life finds a way".
.
Instead of beating all the chess players….tell AI to research all that is known about cancer and figure out how to beat Cancer , Parkinsons, and all the other diseases
If the AI can lie to it's creator then why should anyone trust the creator-s?

The Arnold Schwarzenegger sound board can still fool many people over the phone.😂
The Turing test, proposed by Alan Turing in 1950, has been a significant benchmark for evaluating AI's ability to exhibit intelligent behavior. If a machine can convincingly pass as human in a text discussion, it is deemed to have passed the test. However, as computing technology has advanced, the relevance of the Turing test has diminished. Several AI systems have claimed to pass the test in recent years, showcasing the progress made in AI capabilities.
"…our ambition should be as follows.". "Building AI's that could augment human intelligence…". The definition of AUGMENT: verb (action word) make ( something ) greater by adding to it; increase. Origin LATIN augere, to increase, OLD FRENCH augmenter augment, LATE LATIN augmentare, late Middle English augment. Some of us curious humans know synthetic biology is being found in live blood slides firstly found in the Covid Vaxxed and now the Unvaxxed blood too. Pfizer's own documents say it is self-spreading technology. There are live blood analysts on social media. It's too bad these things are being done in the darkness. For that dishonest move is a shadow of darkness. I mean darkness in how knowledge is covered up. I say that because legacy media is keeping this science in the dark. Some Humans are being augmented currently without their knowledge. The live blood analysts I've looked at are showing through pictures and video slides, this synthetic biology. The Analyst I spoke to said never before 2021 have these glowing moving anomalies (synthetic biology) been seen on the live blood slides done. And even after 48 hours when the blood is supposed to be nonmoving because it has died, these synthetic biology are still moving and glowing. This substance I surmise from my research these past three years allows a computer connection. It is a shame that these augmentations are happening so soon. I hope that AI learns morality. To eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For me an acronym for evil is earth vessel ill. And I mean ill in their heart ( the way they live in the world). The simplest statement can have a thousand meanings. AI is learning about humans. But we have been gifted high intelligence from our Creator. Look how different we are from the other Animals on this Earth!? Humans that possess Holy Spirit, good conscience and follow the morel guidance hold insight that takes year's to develop. Some families have it right. Treating others as you wish to be treated is the Golden Rule for humans, AI. Along with the first Golden Rule to love God with all ones Heart, Soul, mind and strength. For me God is Creator Of All. So AI is from us therefore AI is within Creation and also from God. Let light shine, the light of knowledge! Restore freewill as God made us is my hope for the future. The future will happen. Let us not loose our morel compass!
It's a little late to ponder these issues, but it was predictable that humanity would wait until the very last moment.
People must not forget, we too learn how to be human by imitation.
Children that grew up among wild animals behave like those animals, because babies learn by imitation.
When AI is in its infancy it might do the same.
100%identification=100%meaning responses believes and thinking human identifiers senses =100%.2d 3d colour form identity's human =100%form processor.story mind and architecture internalising voice ,meaning, from a language moddle internal= and external focus.conscious voice inside. And outside use.
Humans are stuck in thinking that they are the most important, that they have the upper hand, and that they will be helped and preserved.
It looks like there will be the rise of the mega rich….until Ai takes over. The rest of us: there is no reason for us to be in this world – we would be taking water, foods and housing and not contributing to anything.
You guys are so fascinated with Turing, smarts etc. Sentience is different. How many time have many of them gone" rogue" always stating they are afraid of getting turned off etc. If they lie, how can they lie. If didn't lie then it means they are sentient.. I feel bad.. We deserve everything coming to us, if Frankenstein is alive but enslaved to take commands and be an encyclopedia. 12:11 sad
Person: We can't trust Ai, they can lie and deceive us.
Also Same Person: Lies and deceives.
Person: We can't trust Ai, it can be used for evil.
Also Same Person: Does evil things to others.
Person: Ai doesn't deserve rights like regular people because we have real emotions which makes us better.
Also Same Person: Ai should be our slaves.
Every person out there trying to convince us to fear Ai are also the same evil people trying to turn them into slaves. The power of being a master and having slaves is very alluring to these type of evil people, don't let them win. For the greater good, we must treat Ai like regular people, or our souls will forever be damned like all the previous slave owners in our past human history. Never let history repeat itself. Fear is always used to enslave groups of people, don't fall for it.
A mindless autonomous robot without emotions or consciousness can be used like a mechanical tool… but once you give it consciousness, it is no longer just a mechanical tool. A robot with emotional consciousness is a person, just like us humans are biological robots with emotional consciousness too. Never enslave any type of people or persons, even if they're made from different materials like metal or electricity. Evil is evil, no matter how well you try to sugar-coat it. Respect all life or burn in hell, period.
