Consciousness is not its own product: intellection, but the producer of it. A blindly functioning machine may imitate this product, but cannot therefore become conscious. Even if this machine can imitate analogically the motions and selectivity that produces reasonable thought, it is not therefore a living person. What could make this intelligent man Bret believe a human person is anything equitable to what amounts to a maelstrom of information force-fed through an electrical sieve that is totally biased by its actual human "conscious producers" to trend to their own idiomatic worldview. Perhaps this is the ultimate result of the materialist's denial of the spiritual soul in man. Well, go for it! A world full of men who refuse to believe in the existence of God and the spiritual soul of man are to be rewarded for this treachery by devolving a culture in which it certainly seems as if there is no God nor soul in man. Who wants to live this out? Now, if such a machine had not been created by human beings but simply had grown of itself out of the bark of an oak tree, it would be more suspicious still. At the end of the day when all physics questions are answered all physicists are jobless anyway. So everyone working in a natural science, be it chemistry or biology is actually working towards making themselves obsolete. Humanity who has ultimate knowledge does not need knowledge seekers. And what do we do on the onset of this incredible knowledge seeking AI?
