We are looking at what is a quarantine. A is a state, period, or place of isolation in which people or animals that have arrived from elsewhere or been exposed to infectious or contagious disease are placed. The word comes from French, from the word ‘Quarante’ which means 40. Because initially, when you were placed in quarantine, you had to be isolated for forty days. Now of course the duration of a quarantine period can adjusted depending on the disease. A quarantine is now quite often of about 2 weeks. Quarantine. Very rarely are people placed in quarantine for forty days as it used to be. Quarantine.
