well now I know why CinemaSins always sins "Comcast" instead of just the Universal logo. huh.
The only Illumination movie I actually think is pretty good was Sing. I saw Moana the same year and Sing was just more entertaining and had better writing. Yeah, it's a "save the rec center" story, but it does that kind of story really well. It was funny. It didn't have all that awful Minions humor and also didn't feel too childish.
I've seen a lot of the other Illumination movies and thought they were pretty bad. Despicable Me 1 was fine. Sing was good and I will defend it a bit.

Artistry is nice, but at the end of the day the studios are in business to make money. I do see what you're saying though. True visionaries in animation are generational talents. We're just in between visionaries right now.
