Part of Litquake X. Held at the Mechanics Institute Library. A philosopher, a neurologist, a psychologist, and a noetic scientist walk into a library where they meet a novelist. The novelist asks the first question that comes to mind: What is the relationship between the physical body and the sentient spirit? Things get out of hand when he follows up with: What is awareness? With Robert Burton, Paul Ekman, Alva Noe, Marilyn Mandala Schlitz, and moderated by Joe Quirk. October 13, 2009.

Noe did his doctoral work under Putnam. So, he has pragmatism running through his ideas. You also notice the strong influence of Heidegger and Witgenstein. However, I personally think the biggest influence on his thinking is Merleau-Ponty.
