The jury is still out on the American revolution but it is not looking good
Hate to break it to ya Steven but you can't blame revolutionaries for finally having enough and fighting for change. Revolutions only happen when the populace is exploited and oppressed beyond belief by an uncaring and entitled ruling class. And it's already happening again. If the billionaire oligarchs don't wake up real soon and give the middle and working classes a chance to catch up, heads are going to roll again and heaven only knows how much blood will be spilled this time. Yes revolutions are absolutely destructive, but they're only an extreme symptom of a deeper disease.
Baking bread is just as disastrous. The bread is eaten by Hitler at a young age, he grows up not hungry, does what he did and there you go
dont ever speak on this topic again
What about all the revolution that helped people to escape from said dictators? Gosh such a stupid take
And now we have colleges pushing students into being communist revolutionaries ughhhh
+ $7000
The past leads to the future
Awesome llove his talks. He is Genius.
Mnnn next revolution, this guy will be on the list for sure. He even has the white royalty like wig.
French revolution didn't killed 2 milion people
I mean, you could technically take any major political disaster in history and point to the nearest revolution behind it, to put the blame…
No mention of the victims of capitalism, of which there are millions. Pinker does not bite the hand that feeds him.
Pas mal de contre vérités sur la révolution française et l'ère Napoléonienne…
dying is better than living as a slave i hope you all realize that
I'm surprised that such an influential thinker would have such a simplistic view of the events he's discussing and overlook the nuances.
Pls shed some light on American imperialism too.. how many has it killed and is still killing? Any stats?
The resistance today is looking like this: sit down and meditate. Walks in nature. Be present. Listen to your heart. See the beauty in other people. 💚
'is views on te frenc revolution is atrocious…it was a revolt a'ainst feudalism…a liberation movement..even if it 'ad 'reat casualties…plus napoleon was not f.ascist
Gandhi and Ambedkar
Let's not forget the American revolution…
so they should've just kept their oppressive monarchy? No. the Liberal reforms only came in Europe when they were forced to by their people, people who were inspired by the Victories won by the French revolution. I have my critiques of liberalism given it has gone to become the predominant ideology in the world but this a reactionary backward position.
I don't know about his work in psychology or science, but his takes in history are maybe slightly better than flat earth
What a fool
I love Steven Pinker but this is a dumb take. Should people just continue living in slavery?
oh brother
The deaths during the Great Leap Forward are not due to “revolution”, but insufficient planning for conditions that would have still resulted in famine anyway were China still under feudalism. And the result — the modern PRC — is definitely an omelette, by any standard of human development.
As for the USSR, the figures he’s reiterating come from the discredited “Black Book of Communism” and are way overestimated. Yes, the Soviet Union claimed the lives of innocent victims, but many of those cited as “victims” are literal Nazis and their collaborators, so…
By the way, Steven, you are on Epstein’s flight logs. I think you’ve lost your right to talk a long time ago.
Can't trust jeffery Epsteins friend
Clown just loves his cushy spot. Thats why hes against revolution
What about american revolution?
All Grey Uni is best.
The French Revolution was never a mistake, trusting rich people always was.
