Dr. Cellini
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine has been a hot topic lately. Some of the questions I get asked are: Is AI replacing DOCTORS? Is AI going to make RADIOLOGY obselete? Are RADIOLOGISTS losing their jobs to AI!? Now, I don’t know who spreads these rumors around, but watch my video and I will give you my thoughts on Artificial Intelligence in Radiology and medicine! Hope you enjoy…
Also, I had to shoot this video on my phone since I am traveling around on my Interventional Radiology fellowship interviews and couldn’t pack my camera!

Thank you so much I was thinking about these bad rumors?
I'd say even if they create an AI with capability of human-like communication skills you'd still want a human in between you and your result. most people are xenophobic in nature and can't even handle other cultures and ethnicity. how do you think it will play out if you insert an AI in all of this? will your lizard brain trust it? or do you prefer a face like yours? even if it has face like yours are you still comfortable with it? we won't know how we are going to adapt until we implement an actual working sentient AI
Hey Dr. Cellini. My name is LJ, and I’m interested in the field of Interventional Radiology, I’d love to see what it’s really like in person. I’m a junior in high school, in the state of Michigan, but I’m willing to travel. Is there any way that I’d be able to shadow you?
Are you part italian? or some sort of european? lmaooo
Excellent video. Pathologists are always there in MDCs too. You forgot to mention them ?.
Is it easy for people to do interventional and diagnostic radiology?
Seriously the next time one of my colleague students brings up this topic again I'm going to make them watch this video! Thank you for covering this!
An alumni from my medical school came to us and discouraged us from pursuing Radiology because according to him they are outsourcing radiology jobs to India. Your thoughts on this??
DO A COLLAB WITH DR. MIKE!!!!
How much usmle step1 score is needed to get interventional radiology to match residency..?
As a Radiologic Technologist, I’m curious to know what Radiologist think Technologist could improve on.
The Radiologist at my hospital always give us a hard time for what the doctor has ordered. Obviously we know most of the times the ER doctor is trying to “cover their bases” and the exams are a bit much but if we question the ER doctor then they get upset and we have to do the exams regardless. Then the Radiologist gets upset with us (techs) for doing the exams.
Well articulated, Great Point='" A.I. is here to help RADIOLOGISTS, not replace them".
Very interesting and informative.
He’s so smart and purttyyyy
Nice video! Well laid dout facts there too. I'm thinking of venturing into imaging informatics. I'm told it holds the potential of being able to make "histologic" diagnoses of tumours on scans. Currently I think they're stacking up data on pulmonary nodules and correlating them to the eventual histology and clinical outcomes. I think it's really promising! But no, AI CANNOT REPLACE RADIOLOGISTS. Well done!
Hi Dr Cellini, I'm from Trinidad and Tobago. Currently I'm studying for my BSc in Radiography. What's your view on consultant Radiographers?
Thanks, very good interesting reflections!
Highly probably.
Would it be a good idea to major in radiography in college if I want to be a radiologist? (No radiology major available)
Hi Dr. Cellini Im lara from Philippines, just wanna say I do really love your vlogs and Im currently studying Radiologic Technology and plans to proceed radiology does being radiologist really hard ?
First radiologist on Youtube to formally address this debate.
Thank you for your voice and inspiration!
Great vid! So glad you explained this!
I’m a current 4th year Med student (in NC) and will be applying to radiology residency for next year’s match. I’d love to hear your experiences/tips on the application/interview process!
I am a rad tech and really learn a lot from your videos! Thank you for sharing great info with us 🙂
Hello Doctor! I just matched to diagnostic radiology couple days ago and this AI has been a concern for me and other ppl. Thanks for clearing this confusion for us, i just subscribed to your channel and wish you the best in your career.
Hi Dr. Cellini! Although you addressed that there is an increasing demand on radiologists, do you think that the efficiency potentially created from AI would, in the long run, decrease the demand for radiologists? i.e. will hospitals need to hire fewer of them, given that fewer radiologists would be able to theoretically crank out more work?
where did you get those glasses?
developed an interest in radiology recently, but i am scared SHITLESS that as soon as i am finished with residency, the job will be obsolete and i have to do residency all over AGAIN!!!
This is already happening. Software called ChexNet outperformed 50 doctors with regards to reading chest x-rays at Stanford University symposium.
The traditional role of radiologists will change rather than being obsolete, which is the opinion of Geoffrey Hinton, the apparent godfather of AI deep learning
You mentioned you’re going into interventional radiology, can you make a video on your expectations on your techs and any advice you can give techs to be more helpful and better to assist you?
Of course! because a radiologist would be perfectly objective with regards to an AI replacing them…
AI is advancing faster than most people imagine. My bet is on the AI.
A.I will replace just about everything that requires analysis, input tasks…basically anything that requires "thinking" so yes..yes it will I think the last jobs that will fall to A.I and robots are skilled trades
What is the difference between a radiologist and an interventional radiologist?
Future neurologist here. I love your content keep up the great work!!!
I don't agree-
Ai and computing speed is 2x every 3yrs
– every thing comes down to money
The best case scenario is # of jobs available will decrease the worst case scenario is inevitable and just a matter of time
Dr Watson has already been to med school doesn't sleep doesn't call in sick doesn't have mood swings & is now past Version 2.0
This shift is not unique to Imaging but imaging is easiest to replace
Any job that relies on direct human interaction is less likely to be automated
Bro, U have a beautiful spirit u definitely chose the right profession. I appreciate how u make these videos. They r totally inspirational. God bless u.
According to Andrew Yang ….YES. LOL
Thanks Dr Cellini from Australia! very insightful points. Applying for Radiologist this year. Hope can join the big global family. Love your cool videos. Plz keep it up
Nice video. A topic that’s been in mind that I’d love for you to cover is radiation dose. Why are so many exams ordered it’s like the docs don’t think twice about pt dose.
Thanks for your insights and encouragement to pursue this field of study. Blessings ?
