OpenAI recently released GPT-3: their new AI machine learning system that can generate all sorts of written text, including code, poems, design, etc. The question remains.. will it replace programmer’s jobs?
I don’t have first-hand access to GPT-3, so the demos showcased are retrieved from these YouTube videos listed below:

If you’re reading this, comment “this comment is so good you wont even notice AI wrote it”
I'm eager to hear what you think about the new AI GPT-3. Do you think it'll replace the programmer's jobs or not?
> I don't even like coffee bro
😂😂😂
🤔🤔🤔
// TODO: Write GPT-4
Scary >:(
Coffee is bad, stop drinking it
AI will replace Women
👌👌
Informative and straight to the point as always Benja!
It maybe difficult to know exactly what you want and explain it to others. But GPT-3 can always ask for feedback then adjust until it gets it right. Less programmers will be needed and their salaries are also affected since GPT-3 makes it much easier to write code.
imagine spending $12 million on an AI
I reckon it’s pretty amazing. I don’t think it will completely destroy everyone’s jobs but rather will aid people on their tasks 🙂
Will gpt-3 replace programmers' jobs?
No.
Brogrammers', yes. Programmers', no.
Assembler did not replace programmers.
Higher-order languages did not replace programmers.
Compilers did not replace programmers.
Macro languages did not replace programmers. (Literate programming didn't really catch on, even.)
Optimising compilers did not replace programmers.
Code generators did not replace programmers.
All these did was to automate increasingly complex tasks and make the life of programmers easier, except the last one, which makes simple tasks more complicated so that non-programmers can understand them, too.
AI is a “new” way of programming, like high-level language and functional languages used to be.
To stress an overused analogy: Anyone can draw a house in ArchiCAD, but that doesn't replace the architect.
Almost anyone can compose sentences, but that doesn't make them a poet.
Mechanical orchestras haven't put musician out of a job.
Don Knuth did make type setters obsolete with TEX; that's what they get for setting his formulas wrong.
Code monkeys and brogrammers will be replaced eventually, like computers (machines) have replaced computers (reckoning experts), but engineers who know their craft will always have a place.
It's not about punching code into a machine. It's about getting the machine to do what you want.
It can't replace designers cuz you still need someone who has the knowhow and the ideas. Likewise, for developers, even more difficult.
.. integration front end and the like (tools)- YES – AI can replace jobs here .. business logic, you are correct – NO ..
.. .. H1B has been used and infested our health systems (doctors etc) and STEM (science technology engineering and math) for more than 10 years as we import 85,000 H1B yearly for 10+ years, but what happened to our brains ? we become dumber ? our engineers choose to become Youtubers from being software engineers , pressured frustrated due to hidden politics in IT departments caused by H1B H-1B? .. Youtube says most of our medications are manufactured from china and india .. Youtube says most H1B users are china and india .. my assignment for you, watch this, reasearch and speculate — https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ePZ7OdY-Dw 30:00 ai scientist china 37 %, india 26.7% usa 4.2% .. now tell me ? fake news?.. maybe..
.. we let H1B as thirdparty less accountabe, develop our apps, then what if theres a breach? chase after them from china? from india? we are really NAIVE ..
.. democracy is prone to exploitation, lets help guard our democracy and our technology.. Youtubers pls help expose this.. technology is so important but dangerous that need to be guarded..
.. here chinese defector said we Americans r NAIVE – 30:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cwXifDaCjE .. because they make us dumb ..
.. here is a government statistics saying that our STEM graduates dont really get employed in STEM (frustrating) — https://www.census.gov/newsroom/press-releases/2014/cb14-130.html .. its time for us to help together escalate to encourage our locals to go into engineering, and lets help together guard our technology and health dept .. lets insist to dol.gov ed.gov whitehouse.gov even for VOLUNTEERING, lets sacrifice salary to guard our technology, and technology for locals is very good to our economy and national security, or we will be controlled by the rich who have technology, as above chinese defector said we are NAIVE.. technology is safest job, can work at home, no risk to spread pandemic infection .. we import 85,000 H1B for more than 10 years then where are the AI tools that should make coding easier ???.. "technology is made to be easier, NOT HARDER.. lets not reinvent the wheel.. simple is powerful..".. we are being deprived of AI tools.. let the so called "the best and the brightest" H1B develop the AI tools !!!
