TEDx Talks
Astrophysicist, cosmologist and Nobel Prize winner George Smoot studies the cosmic microwave background radiation — the afterglow of the Big Bang. His pioneering research into deep space and time is uncovering the structure of the universe itself. He has also made a cameo appearance (as himself) in an episode of the ‘Big Bang Theory.’
George Smoot looks into the farthest reaches of space to the oldest objects in the known universe: fluctuations in the remnants of creation. Using data collected from satellites such as COBE and WMAP, scanning the cosmic microwave background radiation (a relic of the heat unleashed after the Big Bang), he probes the shape of the universe. In 1992 he and his Berkeley team discovered that the universe, once thought to be smooth and uniform at the largest scale, is actually anisotropic — or varied and lumpy. Smoot continues to investigate of the structure of the universe at the University of California at Berkeley, mapping billions of galaxies and filaments of dark matter in hope of uncovering the secrets of the universe’s origins.

And yet if the world/universe was a simulation one wouldn't require people preaching everything is a simulation.
He doesn't sound excited about the topic. He starts a sentence clearly and ends up mumbling.
This guys is the definition of do not get tied up into your lifestyle work, you'll have too much hope and kill your beliefs before even realizing there false. Lol
I think maybe, there were, several pints involved.
the presentation looks like made by high school student, but the subject is very interesting
Who ever is playing my avatar likes to afk alot. He hasnt done anything but sleep eat and walk around so far.
I highly doubt YOU will be transferred onto a computer. Perhaps an exact mirror replica of your personality could be simulated on a computer, but we understand so little about consciousness that simply maping your brain onto a computer doesn't mean YOU as an experiencing being will leave your body and wind up on the computer. I don't feel like thats possible. I feel we are trapped inside our brains. I don't think machines could ever be capable of experiencing this. There is something unique about life that machines just will never have. Being able to compute things does not a living being make. A fly doesn't know how to compute, but it's alive. A machine thats good at tricking you into thinking it's alive doesn't mean it is alive. Who knows though. This universe is weird and maybe we will understand what life exactly is.
What I learn in this video is you should invest in corn o graphy coz 50% of internet are in this type of industry and have a higher financial demand for upcoming years
Why does this man's powerpoint look like the back of some diaper packs
5k Religious people did not like this theory.
Very poor speech…
Wouldn't uploading a person's mind into a computer really just upload a copy of that mind?
"a more propable and valid theory" : exist
"christian" : laughin at you
OK MORPHEUS I’ll TAKE THE RED PILL ?… LETS SEE THE REAL LIFE
PLEASE OMGEA PUT A
SHARK CARD ? UP MY CPU DRIVE. So I can be in GTA V and live in SAN ANDREAS. And the
DIAMOND ? CASINO ?..
If all this IS a game/simulation, whoever designed it kinda set the bar on the high side for all you current and future programmers out there! LOL
I told my dad we'd be uploading our minds by 2045. He just gave a stare at the wall and said, "Skynet"
More proof that physicists make awful philosophers and even worse psychologists.
Bowser is the President and CEO of Nintendo. It's just obvious at this point.
boring
If he had an English accent, this would have been recieved better.
So uhh, this presentation uhh, was very hard to follow, right? So uhh, I couldn't really keep up, you know? Right, so I got bored very quickly, uhh. It's uhh, honestly amazing how his uhh, anxiety of public speaking, right, stayed so constant through the whole video, you know? Uhh, it didn't increase, or uhh, decrease the entire time, right, so uhh, it just stayed the same. Uhh, truly spectacular
no one:
yt recommendations:
Not a "simulation" or Maya until your beyond it. Think this ain't real? Jump off a building and you'll find out it's quite real from where you are. Theory doesn't mean squat.
The more I learn about quantum mechanics the more I'm inclined to think that yes this might be one heck of a simulator but who is behind it… God?
This man struggles with pronunciation
Boring
Believing in God is just the easy way out of believing that you aren’t in a simulation. Hmmmm…
This lecture is boring
Opening joke . Cringe.
Oh
How many PhDs does this guy have? Can’t say “philosophical”…
Also…if we're not real, then this video is meaningless anyway….so I guess I'll leave it at that.
Listen, your brain is nothing more than a very advanced biological switchboard, through which a spirit operates. Your body and brain are dead without your spirit connected to and hooked-up with it. No matter what you all would like to think. You are a spirit, you have a mind, you live in a body and you operate that body through a brain. The brain is not the hidden observer, it is not the source of consciousness, it is merely a switchboard to operate the machine. Once the spirit exits, the body dies and the brain dies…but Why? because the spirit is gone. All the physical matter is still there and intact…yet none of it works…because the real source for life and consciousness has departed! This world is not a simulation…and the REAL YOU is not a simulation and will never be uploaded to a computer! The neural pathways scans of the brain are merely mapping out the switchboard…NOT the real person! The seat of consciousness does not reside in the switchboard, but operates through it to control the body, in a similar manner as a driver uses the steering wheel, gas and break to operate a car.
Interesting…I had to watch it twice to fully grasp his satirical, but quite informative outlook on a most interesting topic. However, imo, he is probably a better writer than a speaker.
Very interesting content however, the delivery was not easy to follow.
since we are a simulation, no need to feel sorry for all those killed in mass shootings since they dont exist
What if our players controlling us made us to hate his speech so we don't know the reality.
he can prove the fact that he is a sim
Was this the inspiration for the Rick and Morty episode M. Night Shamaliens?
“Computer” is good way to introduce people to the Simulation, but it’s a ridiculously primitive description.
We may be in a simulation and physics can’t prove nor disprove this claim.
This guy does have a simulated wood grain vibe about him
This is a Nobel prize winner and 5k morons downvoted him. Lol.
Whomever is running this simulation should make me a billionaire. It'd be funny as, electric unicycles for everyone!
As bad a talker as Elon Musk. No, even worse.
15:49 When you look at it subjectively one appears "longer" but if you look at it objectively you know they are the same length. It depends on how you look at it.
2 horses.
Hey simulator inventors……play my simulator enviornment with a Nintendo Game Genie right………NOW!……..uh……Fake News
09:36 lol
