Through this Episode, We are explaining Double Slit Experiment in Hindi. It’s one of the mysterious experiments of Quantum Physics Humans have ever performed.
It shows the wave-particle duality of particles like photons, electrons, but even bigger ones like atoms and even as large as C60C60 fullerene molecules (60 carbon atoms that from a molecule shaped like a soccer ball).
The experiment
The experiment is simple.
Take a source of light (photons) or electrons (or other particles) and let it shine against a screen with two slits. Behind the screen there is a detector (like photographic paper or a photodiode). You will observe an “interference pattern” of “bright” regions (where lots of light or electrons were detected) and dark regions (where no detection occurred).
This shows that light, electrons and other particles behave like waves, since this pattern would also occur if you did the same experiment with water waves or other kind of wave.
But wait a minute! Aren’t electrons particles? (Photons too, but that was less straightforward historically).
So what would happen if we shot “one electron/photon at the time?”
To answer that we take a very weak source… let’s assume it shoots out one electron or photon per minute (or hour or year… does not matter as long as we can detect one electron or photon at the time with sufficient “dead time” in between).
Then you would see spots appearing one at the time. Nothing surprising. it’s like shooting balls, right? Yes… but the surprising fact is that after many events (let’s say 1000 or 1000000) the interference pattern reappears!
What does this tell us?
This tells us that, depending on the experiment we can observe light (or electrons or protons, etc…) as either waves (forming an interference pattern like waves) or particles (ie. hitting the detector one shot at the time)… but that even when we hit the detector one particle at the time the interference pattern is regained after very many events. This of course makes sense, when you have a strong source you basically have very many single events occurring at very short times from each other.
This shows us the basic of Quantum Mechanics, i.e. that particles can be described as waves and mathematically by a wave-function.
The wave-function gives us also the probability of where a particle will be detected when we shoot one particle at the time. So when we shoot one single electron through the double-slit, we know that there is a high probability it will be detected in one of the “bright regions” and basically no probability it will be detected in the dark region.
If we repeat the experiment many times, i.e. shoot a lot of electrons or photons, we recover the “probability distribution” that is described by the wave-function.
In fact the square of the wave-function (or the wave function times it’s complex conjugate for complex valued functions) gives us a (real valued) function that basically described the probability density of where we will find/detect the particle.
The exact “interpretation” of this duality, i.e. why particles behave like this, is still a matter of debate.

I am not agree with the statement that you say in last. Our world cannot show behaviour like electron . For example water is made of electron and many other quantum particle but water never shows the behaviour of particle instead it always make interference pattern on wall whether it is observed or not. So how world can behave like it.

Actually it happens…bcz of intensity of our consiouness..whatever our pointview is..the photon or energy waves react according to our desire…scientist when they set observer were so determined to see what they were expecting..like photon should behave like particle…its also the science..bcz what we think in our mind and heart strongly…creates electrical & magnetic waves which not only limited to our body…but also travels in whole universe…its just that science yet to draw equation of those events…..mano ya na mano…its true..and will always be..in one of the phrase in bible indicating this…whatever u pray or believe with strong determination will be done to you…..the matrix which is the energy force regulating this whole universe..few scientist call it field..stephen hawkins names it the mind of God. Etc…it reflects those things in universe which we want to see…whatever u think and believe with strong enotion…this energy field reflects that…in 1800 michaelson morlet tried to measure that energy he failed bcz he didnt have correct advance equipements…again same experimient done by us army in 1999 with better equipement they draw the conclusion the energy field is always there….thats why it happens all the time. All the possiblity exists in this universe its just up to you what u want to see and bring….
