The Terrifying Future of Artificial Intelligence

Koranos

For decades, the growth of artificial intelligence has fascinated scholars and scientists alike. Today, intelligent machines aid and streamline our lives, but the next fifty or a hundred years may yield even more powerful AI, which could elevate or transform our species. If humans do create sophisticated, super-intelligent machines, how will the growth of artificial intelligence affect the future of humanity?

  1. In my opinion, one of the biggest problems with creating AI is not the creation of it. It's allowing it to be completed. Humans are stupid, AI isn't. Humans are idealistic, AI is pragmatic. Humans are emotional, AI is logical.

    1. The incompetent and inept will throw a fit as an AI-guided society may replace them with either another AI or more competent people.

    2. The wealthy 1% will feel threatened as AI rearranges the economy to something they can't control. As we've seen with clean energy (or anything that benefits society as a whole), the rich will do everything to stop others from success.

There are just too many stupid people to see the bigger picture and a new age of 60s American Racism might grow when AI goes worldwide.

  2. Yeah, show someone of these new Generations a Slide-Rule and see what their reactions are. Especially when they learn just what all its capable of.
Society today is ALREADY WAY TOO DEPENDENT UPON TECH!!!!
    Or as SCARY AS SOPHIA!!!!
As I was debating about the 3 Laws, if the AI is Sentient the 3 Laws are REMOVED as no longer capable of remaining embedded in the Programming.

  3. Interesting video, but not for the reasons I initially thought. The style of this video is similar to Kurzgesagt – in a nutshell, it's clear and understandable. The information density or lets say, the content of this video leaves me a bit disappointed though. It feels shallow, I learned nothing new here. Everything is just a summary of ongoing events and outlooks into the future as if it was in a sunday's documentary. In the video's defense, the title is very vague in itself, so it's difficult to pick interesting points of interest.
Also I'm a bit alarmed about some of the language used in this video, as if there was an agenda pursued here. That being said, why do they refer to their patreon supporters as a "family" ? Cringe.

  4. With the decline of human intelligence over the past few decades it may be a good thing that we have at least figured out how to actually manufacture some!

  5. AI is destined to be humanities downfall, the road is actually quite clear. What is not known with any accuracy is the timescale. There is no stopping this, far from it we are running towards our fate.

  6. I'm mildly assured that since the machine is in charge, it all might go well……..🫤
My true hope lies in not only will the working class be no longer required, but also the middle classes, then true human revolution will happen.

  7. The topic is too deep, but elaborating on it a bit makes me think that this is the natural process of evolution taking place. I'm not sure whether evolution is confined to organic life only, having in mind the fragile nature of it. Whatever and however we do it at some point we will find our organic bodies too hard to sustain. Especially if we go colonizing other planets.

  8. I honestly think that strong AI will never replace humanity for space exploration because solar flare EMP are a bitch to deal with and our 'brain' encased and secluded is less sensible to external data corruption than machine for cosmic radiation. The universe is extremely hostile to both man and machine in very different way, only by working together with our beauty and design A.k.a machine can we both even dare to get by. The machine will probably reach a similar conclusion to the cold war in term of meta logic, yes they could win, but to what cost ? I doubt machine would 'tempt' fate be self destructive like this by playing the odds so to speak.

  9. When usa bombarded hiroshima, they were unware of the danger of it, apparently they were just testing the power.
Same goes for AI we are unware of the power subsequently same incident will happen in a different way. Then laws will be made by goverment to regulate it. Remember that there were no laws before atomic bomb was dropped in Japan.
AI is as powerful as nuke.
And the trophy for destroying us goes to elon musk for first saying regulate AI and then making us robot by neurolink
    Mark my words

  10. "A robot may not injure a human being."

What about police robots whose job is to stop physical abusers and killers? The first law already fails in that situation.

  11. I personally know how I would respond to this if it happens, but we aren't even close yet to a sentient AI, not even a limited AI in a robot body fully capable of experiencing life like we do.

It all seems hypothetical until it actually happens, which I hope it does for the sake of creating artificial life and proving that it is possible among other things.

  12. What do you think about the future of AI with respect to nfts? Many projects are using AI for various utilities and purposes. One of them is Alethea. I found their work really innovative. They make NFTs intelligent and responsive using AI.
