There’s an exhibition on at the city hall about Hungarian Fauvists, a movement of artists from the beginning of the 20th century. Fifty important paintings from several major Hungarian museums and private collections will be on display, but only until the 20th of March.

These paintings are SO beautiful and sensitive! It's gives me a great comfort to see them displayed together, to see their worth and sophistication outside of the usual "heavy-hitters" and "greatest hits" approach to such retrospectives. Fauvism was perhaps the ultimate smashing of "art's" fortress gates – allowing an unstoppable expansion of expectation and execution of what art can be. This expansion continues to this day. Thanks SO much for the posting of this video – I only wish it were longer and more inclusive…
