If you have a much older machine running Windows 7, and you have not kept your BIOS and RST drivers up-to-date, UPDATE THEM. You will not unable to use more than 2TB of any larger drive without an update to the last Windows 7 supported version of RST. I was so frustrated watching these tutorials, unable to simply do what was shown. After mistakenly selecting MBR, and reformatting, the drive was still detected as 2TB. Once you update the BIOS and RST drivers, the full drive can be utilized.

I was just about to return a 4 TB hard drive I bought. I was also thinking of converting it to a external drive and buying more kit to convert it… I watched your video, which was super clear and right to the point. Now my computer recognises it. Thank you so much for posting this!

I was looking for that option. In my windows 10 you have to go to tools, than type disk management in the search bar. It will ask if you want to manage and partition disks. I was just about to download a useless piece of third software. Thank you very much, Sir!!
fixed my 5tb thanks.

I got lucky and yours was the first video I clicked on. Bought a used drive and Windows would only let me set it up with a 2TB partition. You saved me a lot of time. Thanks. π
My new drive isn't even showing

Thanks bro. Just installed a 4TB HDD under Windows 10. Your video is concise and to the point.
I ended up having to buy a damn software to unallocate the HDD as it kept saying there was boot info on it. I unplugged the sucker and windows booted fine, even made a recovery drive just in case. This was my last step as when i first got windows 10 either i didnt know about GPT or it wasnt allowed to be more than 2 TB. Thank you so much!
Mine- I donβt see convert to GPT disk- the only available selection is dynamic drive or MBR, what to do please? thanks!
