This is easily be one of my longest videos (not counting any live shows). Time codes for easier viewing can be found below:

01:13 Color Wheel Introduction
01:35 Primary Colors
04:20 Secondary Colors
09:45 Tertiary Colors
12:20 My Colors, a few to point out
13:14 PART 2 – Value Scales
14:54 Black to White
16:42 Red/Green & Yellow/Purple Apology [Supplement Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c4H2I2lzBM ]

20:39 Green to White
22:55 Green to Black
24:31 Yellow to White

See I was smart this time and got the time codes written up ahead of time. Now if only someone could tell that to the Ben in this video it would make the outro a little less awkward.

  1. Sweet! Thanks for the time codes! I didn't end up using them this time, but it's pretty nifty to have. Therefore, I just subscribed.

  2. What did you mean by, "turn on your annotations"? You weren't suggesting turning on that hilarious closed captioning, were you? Are annotations a way of taking notes, attached to a video?

  3. What is that magenta called at 12:31? Sorry, I did not understand what you said.
I also just wanted to mention that I have watched on accountable numbers of videos on acrylic painting and I find yours to be the most educational information that I found. Sue thank you so much for recording all of these because I'm going to be a better artist for them.
I am self taught and have only been painting for about a year and a half so finding you is my prize for the day!

  4. I have a question. Since paint is a subtractive medium is these any benefit to using the CMYK color palette? I have also heard of looking for the primary colors in a paint manufactures line up that are single pigment as they cannot separate into different colors. Is there any truth to that?

  5. Thanks for the video. I'd like to ask, what would be a good paper to use for painting with Acrylics? I know they're used for painting on canvases and panels, but painting on paper seems to be more convenient in terms of space and portability.

  6. I don't know or have pathalo blue or even heard of it. I have in acrylic colour navy blue ultramarine blue in my tubes. If I have to paint canvas with darker to lighter colour in sky blue then how to make pathalo blue?
