  1. same i wish i could travel to the future and kick the shit out of that fucking punk, goddamn punk rustles my jimmies

  2. For my point of view, the character of Teddy was going through the same fate as David the young robot boy : "his" existence being denied, he is also going after a purpose, when humans would throw him to the garbage when they get bored of him or he becomes obsolete. A very touching trio did he make, along with David and the robot hooker. All different, all on the same boat of a fragile existence. Extremely touching, and a lesson for all of us, who believe we know better what being human is, but fail to love and protect the lives around us.

  3. —- SPOILER —- When I watched this movie as a teen and it was done it wrecked me for weeks. Because it was sad. And mostly because it was creepy. I don’t know if that is what they were going for. I empathized mostly with the toy Bear more than anyone else. I was very confused about what the movie was trying to teach and most if not all of the characters (especially David) seemed like they had deep emotional issues and they went about unhealed and worsening, unless you count the end which is David’s wish fulfillment of his obsession.

I felt like I was tortured watching it. It haunted me. But I had to see how it ended. In this day and age it would be rather difficult with the rating (PG?) to make such a movie, as the kid-like character commits murder (decapitated another “David” robot) and attempts suicide. And his maker calls him a “success” like “Yay! I made a robot love!” Only it was an obsessive love.

I liked where the movie was going on the beginning. And sad it didn’t take that turn with the mechas but ended up with a depressed David whose end was so heartbreaking.

Don’t get me wrong. It is a hauntingly stunning piece. And I understand why people love it. I was laughing and crying with everyone else. But creeped out and felt hopeless for the most part.

  4. Everyone loves to hate Marty, but I can understand him: why has he to compete now with an artificial "sibling" for his mom's affection? After all he went through?

  5. If Martin, being a human, is one of God's creations .. and Teddy, a far kinder and more thoughtful human invention would make humans a superior creator than God … think about that …
