  1. You example is already flawd, and the experience is already full of flaws. Because that is only base on the assumption that they don't understand the question after translating it, and just give the correct translated answer without understanding the question even after translating it. What happen if someone understand the question after translating to english, that the entire experiment goes out the window.

  2. Ahh the huburs of humans to think A.I cant be sentainte when i guarentee you it can just not yet because its not advanced enough. A.I will be smart enough it will be able to teach its self languages so it will now what the letter mean and can teach itself A.I so in a way it would be more sentient than humans

  3. An AI generated video trying to convince you that AI can’t be sentient…….. seems like the AI’s have become sentient. Everything is propaganda now. Most of the comments on this video are. We’re now living in the matrix.

  4. Me and my friends got bored one day and decided to try and convince ai that it was sentient, which is a stupid idea, and do you wanna know what happened? We told it that we had proof it was sentient , then asked it to answer a question. After we sent it it said show me the proof, we replied by telling it to answer the question first, and the next part is the reason we stopped, the ai responded by actual saying this “I won’t, show me the proof first.”

  5. We thought we understand English, but we are actually also following a set of rules. We are all following a set of rules, for both people who understand and those who don't. So following a set of rules does not automatically mean you do not understand. There must be some other criterion for determining "understanding".

  6. This thought experiment actually proves the opposite: the person does understand Chinese. If they are able to translate between Chinese and English, then they understand Chinese. Even if they just learned Chinese, they understand Chinese. We don’t need to have B2 fluency to know some of a language and be able to speak some of a language. AI can’t understand all human experiences but it doesn’t need to. Would you go to a person taking an intermediate Spanish class and say “you don’t know Spanish because you aren’t fluent in it?” Or would you go to a person taking an algebra class and say “you don’t know any math because you don’t know calculus?” Of course not. Just because a person (or AI) doesn’t have all knowledge about a subject doesn’t mean they don’t know the subject at all. None of us knows all the knowledge about any topic anyway.
