“인공지능을 배우자”…학계에 부는 바람
Artificial intelligence is one of the key technologies that is driving the so-called “fourth industrial revolution.”
It’s spreading into many areas, including the academic world here in Korea, where it’s being used to improve research.

This graduate student is working on making audio signals using artificial intelligence.
He faced the challenge of a lack of study materials in his early days of research, so he made a study group with fellow students.
“When I first started my research, there were barely any materials in Korean and the content was very vague. So our lab studied papers in small groups and strengthened our understanding.”
This course aims to train artificial intelligence experts.
The students’ fields of study vary, but their desire to expand their research through artificial intelligence is all the same.
“Aside from my research, deep learning is a vast field. I think having a basic knowledge of it and combining it with other fields can lead to better research.”
This course is carried out in collaboration with a leading artificial intelligence company.
This allows the students to implement realistic AI systems.
“I hope many students can realize the potential of the technology and become interested through the use of real-world AI systems in our program, …then ultimately become AI researchers and help the development of the field.
Recently, the Korean government has decided to invest two billion U.S. dollars in developing core Artificial Intelligence technology, …with the aim of becoming a global AI powerhouse by 2022.
