  1. Wanted to add some clarifiying points – You can run Network and Protect in the cloud, but Access requires an onsite UI controller that supports it, and the camera for numberplate recognition needs to be connected directly to the Access Hub to access that function, it can't just hang off a switch elsewhere. The recognition is genuinely fantastic, even at night – but no Alexa, G Home or Siri integration at this time. And yes, by the time a plates been cloned and turned up in a grey car you could probably just hop over the fence – the main reason for the gates is to stop the dogs running on the road 😂

  2. Hi, nice setup, but one question, you record the outside of your house, In France it's forbiden to record public spaces, so do you have an option on the camera or the software to blur the public part, and let your drive way clear ? Thanks for your answers nice video.

  3. I have no idea how much your image dataset is. That said you could most likely rig something up in Home assistant that can check to see if your phone is within proximity, if license plate is detected and phone is also detected then open the gates. They're many ways of doing this I guess. Thanks for the videos.

  4. i would love to know what would happen if you just held up your number plate to the camera in the day time? would it open? surely someone could just hop your fence take your plate and trigger the gate?

  5. So just wait for you to drive in, make a note of your licence plate, and then print some out and put on another car and hey presto the gates open?

  6. Sorry i have a question about your network to the gate, are you using the u7 outdoor to run your ethernet/wifi out there for the cameras and such as well, or is there still a hardline and that is only giving wifi at the gate? I currently have 2 of the nanobeam ac gen 2 shooting internet from the house to shop and was hoping to use a 3rd to be able to send my internet to the gate to run a very similar setup. Great video showing a lot more features than any of the other ones i've seen, just trying to get as informed as i can before i continue setting up my network, i got the dream machine with a 24tb hard drive but i havent gone any further with protect or access yet but i want the gate to be the main one im worrying about first. thank you!

  7. Alex a great video and really insighful. Maybe in a follow up video you can test if the Unifi AI Port means we can use legacy Unifi or ONVIF cameras rather than needing to purchase their AI specific cameras for the gate access system?? Thanks

  8. I cannot imagine what that SFP could be used for on a gate. "Yea bro, I have SFP just in case my gate where the packet size barely breaks 200bytes needs more flow"

    Talk about overkill…

  9. Hi ! Loved the video, very usefull. Could you explain how the wiring for "keep open" works ? If I saw correctly in the video it uses the side door lock terminals on the gate hub, but these are 12v, is there an option to make it dry in unifi access ?

  10. Question for the pins, can i have a specific pin for amazon close as an ai camera detects that vehicle leaves, or maybe a time delay like 5 min and the gate closes again? Instead of having a secondary gooseneck and intercom inside and them having to enter the pin again to leave? Thx

  11. Awesome video. I have a similar setup. How did you manage to prevent the gate from opening again when someone leaves the property? I tried using the line crossing function, but the gate still opens when driving out (even if i have defined Line Crossing like from A to B). How did you manage it?

  12. Awesome video. Can you please provide some details about the Nice gate controller and the cabinet you used to house the equipment?

I already have a full Ubiquiti setup at my house from network, to cameras so this implementation is a natural extension for me to adopt. Great work again!

  13. Hi Alex, Please would you be able to let us know the details for your black external IP enclosure box you used at the gates to house all the equipment… the brand would be great.

  14. This is exactly what people are fighting against !!!!! Facial recognition that identifies individuals (rather than just recording people on camera) counts as processing biometric data. Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, this is “special category” data and is treated as highly sensitive. Processing this kind of data usually requires a lawful basis and an additional condition to process special category data. Simply having cameras doesn’t automatically give you that right.
