As an average educated individual, you could basically watch one of these types of videos and come to the same conclusion as mine: no answers ever, only a mishmash of names scattered thru history to fill your brain and make you think you know something about this. With regard to the Scriptures, if you move in the allegorical direction, you will have problems with the rest of the bible. Like, if you take the six days of creation in Genesis 1 allegorically, you will have a huge problem when you realize that the Lord taught the creation account literally.
Believe it or not, having a good-enough grasp of Quantum Physics allows me to comfortably go the literal road. Didn't scientists say that our universe is but a simulation of a much bigger reality which we cannot as yet perceive? Didn't they say that distance and time are but persistent illusions? As I see it, science is catching up.
And where does Quantum Physics fit in all of this for me? When the Lord said "I go and prepare a place for you", is this place being prepared spirit, or material, albeit with more dimentionalities than we have in our reality? Will we have spirit floors, walls, doors, tables and chairs? Or would these be material with more than four dimensions?
If angels are not omnipresent but have locality, it means they exist in a created universe outside of our own, yet not outside of creation per se. Angels are, like us, created beings.
So, literal or allegorical? I say go literal when it is not clearly indicated as allegorical.
