Consciousness does matter – Amit Goswami Ph.D., Honolulu HI

Lilou Mace

Amit Goswami, Ph. D. is a retired professor from the theoretical physics department of the University of Oregon in Eugene, where he had served since 1968. He is a pioneer of the new paradigm of science called “science within consciousness”.

Goswami is the author of the highly successful textbook Quantum Mechanics that is used in Universities throughout the world. His two volume textbook for nonscientists, The Physicist’s View of Nature traces the decline and rediscovery of the concept of God within science.

Goswami has also written many popular books based on his research on quantum physics and consciousness. In his seminal book, The Self-Aware Universe, he solved the quantum measurement problem elucidating the famous observer effect while paving the path to a new paradigm of science based on the primacy of consciousness.

Subsequently, in The Visionary Window, Goswami demonstrated how science and spirituality could be integrated. In Physics of the Soul he developed a theory of survival after death and reincarnation. His book Quantum Creativity is a tour de force instruction about how to engage in both outer and inner creativity. The Quantum Doctor integrates conventional and alternative medicine.

In his latest book, God is Not Dead we explore what quantum physics tell us about our origins and how we should live.

In his private life, Goswami is a practitioner of spirituality and transformation. He calls himself a quantum activist. He appeared in the film”What the Bleep Do We Know”, “The Dalai Lama Renaissance”, and the award winning documentary “The Quantum Activist”. – Source: http://www.amitgoswami.org/about/

  1. It's a tricky paradigm to crack, but I think it's crackable none-the-less 🙂 My own research/experiments/intuitions point that the "soul" is housed in multiple "sheaths," and that at the moment of death, these soul carriers vacate the physical container. Now if we create a device sensitive enough, we will be able to capture information about these subtle containers, then we have strong scientific data that consciousness exists independent of the body-brain system (i.e., matter). It's inevitable.

  2. Kool one of the main assumptions in modern neuroscience is that consciouness is generated by the brain, despite the fact there is no evidence for this. Materilaist assert from that when you die you cease to exist, however, they are either oblivious of the Lorber case or they deny it because they cannot explain it within their myopic paradigm. Lorber was a doctor from the UK who discovered that there are people out there walkign around with no brains literally.

  3. Clearly you have not understood the quotation it is saying Consciouness was here first and everything come from that. Keep reading it and one day the penny will drop.

  4. It's the other way around. See, if consciousness came into being because of body (matter), that's just the western-orthodox classical-materialist view that came into being in the last 200 or so years. But now that more evidence is coming to light that consciousness is fundamental cause, and matter is just a manifestation of consciousness.. that's a whole other understanding with far greater implications than the former. It also validates ancient-indigenous knowledge (e.g., see vedas/upanishads).

  5. If the body came into being because of consciousness that is a wonder, but if
consciousness came in to being because of the body this is a wonder of wonders.

  6. I am gonna have to listen to it like twice, 3 times, 4 times!! What ever it takes for me to absorb all the vitamins in this juicy information. Thank you as always Lilou!

  7. lilou,
as you once soo vehemently and eloquently shared; every chance one gets to pull an indian out of a 7eleven or convient store lets discuss with them why slirpies are sooo dam good!

  8. I love this man – he's a real gem! Jealousy is an emotion of the second chakra, Swadhistana, which is why the heart chakra suffers/de-energizes when one experiences jealousy. The Anahat (heart) chakra is the seat of compassion, unconditional love, forgiveness and empathy. The immune system is governed by the root chakra, Muladhara, which will be imbalanced by a weakened heart chakra. Namaste
