  2. It seems to me that carving into a live tree – therefore KILLING it – is a counter-productive act. If everyone did this, or even got the idea to try it theirselves, there would be fewer trees in neighborhoods…which would serve to devalue the property, take away shade in the summer, remove a natural windbreak, destroy bird habitat, etc. It would always be the oldest, most beautiful trees people would select for such a temporary work of art. Yes, new trees can be planted…but even softwoods like pine take decades to reach this size. Hardwoods can take a century (or much more) to reach the size necessary. Don't get me wrong, I'm no treehugger…I am a woodworker myself. I love the natural beauty of wood…the grain, the hues. But responsible usage of this resource requires sober stewardship. This just seems to be something which some people would impulsively undertake – sometimes with a less-than-desired result, and always with a permanent one. Please, art lovers… think about it for a while. Is it really worth the destruction involved?

He can make these signs with cool designs on them
He made one for my mom on there anniversary
