Creativity, Play & Multiple Intelligence



This 2014 film presents a number of key interviews that present ideas regarding future arts in education curriculum. The film has a focus on the role of participatory arts for culturally diverse primary schools; and how schools can build a culturally responsive approach to intercultural inquiry learning through the arts. As a visual backdrop, the film documents the engagement of children from Richmond West PS and Debney Meadows PS working with 30 on-site artists in a series of arts/cultural experiences. Experiential inquiry learning was developed with children, teachers & parents. Sue Clark was the film’s interviewer/producer, Shahin Shafaei film maker, highlighting:
(a) participatory arts as a philosophical cultural curriculum with Prof Rufus Black – Ormond College – Uni of Melb
(b] the arts and values education as core curriculum with Dr Gary Shaw – Vic Ed Dept.
(c) the significance of the arts nurturing imagination & creativity with Prof Barry Coningham -Dean Faculty VCA & MCM
(d) how music in education fosters social & emotional literacy with Prof. Jane Davidson – Research Fellow – Uni of Melb
