  1. Question for my atheistic friends: If you are a determinist, how do you explain the Darwinian notion of "random mutation"? On a deterministic world view, even if the evolutionary tape were rewound to a point just before life came into existence (at which time the current laws of physics were already in play), and replayed – doesn't Newtonian physics dictate that the same scenario unfold, since all physical activity under those laws, is predictable? Where in the world does the notion of "random mutation" come from? It seems to me that there is no room for randomness in a deterministic environment. Ideas anyone?

  2. To demonstrate his thesis, that evolution and naturalism display deep discord and cannot, comfortably, be held simultaneously (because evolution only guarantees survival, and not true ideas / beliefs),- Plantinga could have offered several examples of how false beliefs have indeed existed, both in science and other domains, throughout our evolutionary history. The geocentric theory, to take one example, did not hamper our survival one bit as far as I can discern. Neither has a flat earth theory – nor Greek / Roman Mythology, etc…Our species continued to exist and even thrive.
