Daniel Dennett was Right About Exposing Our Friends

Rational Orc

Daniel Dennet predicted the rise of SJW’s 8 years ago at an Atheist Alliance ‘O7 meeting when he said “we may find ourselves no longer able to respect people we had previously thought rather well of.” I show video testimonies of Sam Harris, Dave Rubin, Atheism-Is-Unstoppable, and the Armored Skeptic to show how they have all experienced exactly what Daniel Dennett predicted would happen.

Each of them (and myself) have all been shocked by people we had “previously thought rather well of” (Glen Greenwald, Cenk Uygur, PZ Myers) going off the rails of sanity.

  1. When religion can go as far as dictate one's private life via the justice system, man, we have a fucked up situation. But liberal softies and the people in general play the elephant in the room game and pretend nothing much is going on. They are almost as guilty.
Go check the news. This week more than 160 men were arrested in Indonesia, some could even get the death penalty. What atrocious "crime" have they perpetrated (?) you can ask… They are believed to have participated in a gay party… Don't laugh. It is no light matter. Because they live in a (mostly) islamic country, they have no "right" to be gay. And what really fucks up with my head is that, once in court, these people's defense will have to be: "no, it's all a misunderstandind. We're not gay" when what they actually should answer is: "yes, we're gay! So what?". Even when defending themselves, they are obligated to engage in this disgusting game of prejudice and half-words, making them lose no matter if they "win".
And we're still supposed to pretend religion has nothing to do with it?

  2. it would be nice if some of these Evangelical atheists would admit to their own part in enabling the SJW debacle. they were just fine with it all until the SJWs turned on every one. the time to have nipped this off was when the entire group TOGETHER started trying to tell people what to think and how to act. none of you had the right and past abuses by religiousness is NOT an excuse to have encroached on those you disagree with in an attempt to "Deplatform" any one with the gall to speculate at the edges of what humanity thinks it knows or understands. as if that had not been the path that enabled the collection of the very scientific knowledge they purport to be defending….stupid is as stupid does they say and the utter TRASH both human and theoretical coming out of academia these days is all the proof required.

  3. You may as well include Sam Harris in relation to Daniel Dennet as someone he once thought of as a friend and now is losing regard for. Their free will differences being the point of of contention. Dennet views the promotion of the idea that free will is an illusion as somewhat sinister and ill derived or at the very least irresponsible, as do I.

  4. It's simple let the people of there country stay in there country and live by there own rules the rest of the world mind there own bissness let them fight and blow each other up leave us out of it what can we do on the other side of the world

  5. Islam is worthy of condemnation in the same sense as any irrational belief. To believe that Islamic terrorists are a product of Islam over other social factors is pure ignorance. Can Islam's teachings be bent towards terrorism? Sure. As can those of Christianity, Judaism and probably Jainism if one puts one's mind to it.

The problem with critics of Islam is they often move beyond Islam and criticize Muslims as though they were one giant tent of seething hatred. That is the creation of a monolith that islamaphobes are rightly tarred with and an obsession that seems terribly racist if one asks these people what a typical Muslim looks like in their minds.

Sam Harris has been rightfully criticized for overreach on Islam as well as endorsement of torture.

Moreover, the quote from Dennett is regarding the nastiness of the Christian interpretation of god. Allah certainly has it's warts, but it endorses a merit based after life result, not one requiring faith and gullibility. To wind up in Muslim hell a person has to actually have been more evil than good. Eternal punishment is still unjust but it's a far sight better than the Christian version.

  6. The right have a peculiar obsession with SJW's. The backlash against them is completely disproportionate to the scale of the actual movement, if there ever really was one. If you don't believe me, search 'social justice warrior' on Youtube. You will be hard pressed to find a single video by anyone actually claiming to be one, and page after page of self styled right wing pundits ranting against them. I only know of the existence of SJW's because of the rabid obsession the right have with them.

  7. Disrespecting Believers

Christian believers tell me that not only do they believe Yahweh exists, but that they worship him. They deeply admire him. They also tell me that he torments with fire the majority of people after they die, for eternity. They also tell me in their bible, that Yahweh loves killing the first born of entire peoples. Exodus 11:1-13:16, Exodus 22:29, I Samuel 15:3, Psalms 137:9. Then there is the story of Job Job 1:1-42:17, where Yahweh torments an innocent man mercilessly to win a bet. Why would anyone in their right mind worship such an evil sadistic bastard? It it like they are confessing to masturbating over photos of Hitler. The only excuse they ever offer is fear. They are afraid that if they did not worship this cunt, he would roast them for eternity. This is monumental cowardice, kowtowing to an non-existent celestial dictator. I cannot possibly respect such people or their beliefs.

  8. Every time a newspaper published something I supposedly said, I was horrified at how creative they were. During the interview they pretended to be my best friend, but the article was intended to destroy my reputation. With TV interviews they edit an hour interview to the few seconds when I teared up. The only way to fly is to go on radio or TV live.

  9. Americans kill way way more people than Muslims do. Look at their budgets. How could it be otherwise? Islam needs a kick in the pants, but so does America.

  10. There are so many people who hate Muslims just because they are not Christian. They need to be defended. SOME Muslims have some pretty awful beliefs that are intolerable in the USA. They need to be opposed. BOTH need to be done. The makers of this video seem to think you must join one camp or the other and throw rocks at the other camp.

  11. I'm an atheist, and have no problem with the concept of infinite punishment. I see no logic or scientific facts which make that "evil."

  12. Your rant is almost entirely nonsensical, lacks any contextual merit…I only commented because it seems like you're sincere about your feelings.
I'm absolutely sure that I can demonstrate, point by point, that your tirade was unsubstantiated by the facts…if you're willing to engage in a sincere dialogue
