  1. Being responsible is not how Capitalism works.
We strive to privatise gains and externalize costs.
    It is the Darwin's way.
(We are a bunch of selfish, greedy agents who cooperate only out of extreme necessity.)

Life started lonely and selfish, cooperation came a bit later when the selfish agents were present.

  2. I didn't like how Dennett ridicules opinions that are different from his own without even giving any arguments. I'm sure he gives some arguments for these opinions elsewhere but I think that no one should be that sure of their opinions when there are many reasonable people who disagree. Many experts think that human-level AI might come fairly soon (e. g. see https://aiimpacts.org/predictions-of-human-level-ai-timelines/). It'll be very dangerous if everyone ignores their opinions and doesn't prepare.

I'm not an expert on consciousness but I know that there's at least a little bit of disagreement on whether algorithms and software can suffer as well (http://www.petrl.org). I know that such a position sounds very weird but maybe this question deserves at least some consideration as well because if we are wrong and they can suffer, we could cause a vast amount of suffering.

  3. It's nice to Daniel Dennett publicly concede that he was wrong on AI while all along John Searle was right. In his next video, Dan will explain how the Chinese Room argument is the greatest intuition pump of all time. For some, it takes an entire lifetime to discover the truth.
