David Chalmers – What is Consciousness?

Closer To Truth

Consciousness is what we can know best and explain least. It is the inner subjective experience of what it feels like to see red or smell garlic or hear Beethoven. Consciousness has intrigued and baffled philosophers. To begin, we must define and describe consciousness. What to include in a complete definition and description of consciousness?

  1. CConsciousness is most likely a program. Matter reflects the information of light in consciousness. Qualia is a vibration of course, a vibration of a certain wave, a certain frequency.

And the main thing is that all this is connected with the future. I will give an explanation of how (1 + 1 = 2) the answer already exists, and it has always been, always everywhere and in everything. Our consciousness comes to him gradually, step by step. But we play a certain role for the future. For example, you create a program that is capable of solving complex computational problems, you do not solve them, but you program a device to work with a specific function. Or some kind of apparatus – a production machine, etc.

But – the future most likely already exists. There is another time, we see it as another "dimension" THIS is a temporal contrast, large – small, small – large, distant – small, close – large, the speed is higher – the density is greater, the gravity is stronger, etc.

  2. And I will probably tell you what (qualia) is – feelings. This is the energy of the stars – and living from there.
And consciousness is a projection of genetic memory onto a module that receives external signals. In general, this is all briefly.
Small is big, big is small. Mass is energy, energy is mass. -;))

  3. Whenever you make a statement about identity you invoke consciousness therefore consciousness is that which allows you to know identity and is therefore identity itself.

  4. People really need to stop saying consciousness is imbedded in the universe. It's not. What you CAN say is something like "consciousness's foundation or base functional property underlies the universe." We're being sloppy with our words here when we say consciousness that humans inhabits is somehow the universe or a base non-brain part of the universe itself. That's impossible and simply makes no sense.

It's almost as bad as saying a plant or even a rock is conscious. They are not. In order to BE conscious and what it means, you need a mind (a processing center) that can retain memory, feel AND understand pain on a fundamental level. A plant wilting or dying due to damage does not feel pain. It has a physical process that responds to outside stimuli, but that's all it is at that level is a response to stimuli and the environment in a unidirectional mode.

Are animals conscious? Many almost certainly are. Obviously you don't need intelligence to be conscious and have conscious experience, but you DO need again the memory and general processing of the environment into a collective 'conscious experience' in order to BE conscious. And that requires a mind of some sort.

  5. I miss in these discussions the role of energy in consciousness. We aren't conscious by default but we have to work hard for it. So the hunt for energy is the most definable feature of conscious beings. What can this tell us about fundamental reality?

  6. Consciousness Explained (summary)

    Important:

The text was written in Spanish and translated with the Google translator. I mention it for the reader's consideration.

While this is a summary, it should be enough to clarify what Consciousness is. There are many interesting subjects, related to the topic, that are not included. I have no problem answering any questions you may have.

The material body is situated in a material environment, and carries out actions. The senses capture information from the material medium. This information activates memories in the brain, groups of neurons that store information about the individual's life history. Through this process, the information from the medium, which is captured by the senses, acquires Meaning. From this same process the Expectations of Action (Pavlov) arise.

As described, the brain manages information from the Present, the Past and an eventual future. It is reasonable to assume that the brain makes a distinction between the information it manages from the Past, Present and Future.

In the brain there are no tables, skies or trees. In the brain there is information that represents tables, skies and trees.

It is reasonable to assume that the brain administers a Mental Correlation of the Relevant Environment of the Individual, which represents what is happening, in the Present, in its relevant environment. The mental correlate of the relevant environment can be called The Reality of the Individual.

Emotions and feelings accompany every life experience, and are represented in the life experience that the brain stores. Emotions and feelings give meaning to what is perceived.

Various factors determine the time that neurons remain activated.

If by turning my head to the right I stop seeing what is happening to my left, that does not mean that what I stopped perceiving a moment ago is no longer part of the mental correlate of my relevant environment. The brain has the ability to project, in time, the state of said segment of the environment; is what Pavlov observed. If in the previous example, before turning my head to the right, I observed that my dog, some hundred meters away, was running towards me, my brain will project such an event in time. Although, as the seconds pass, such a projection will become more and more diffuse, less certain, less representative of what is happening in the material world, that does not mean that my dog will no longer be represented in a certain segment of the mental correlate of my relevant medium. It is evident that this "Actualization of the Present" is due to the brain's ability to project future states of the environment. At the same time it is clear that, in the Actualization of the Present, which arises as a consequence of the Projection of the Future, a certain degree of uncertainty is implicit. By the way, the Projection of the Future is related to expectations.

The conditions of an ever-changing environment result in the expectations that the brain previously diagrammed to face what is coming are met only to a variable degree. The Projection of the Future is constantly being updated by the brain.

In the life experience that my dog has been storing in his brain, there are "latent", as non-active memories, the biographies of countless Entities with which my dog has interacted throughout his life. His life experience, in which said entities have participated, through his daily life of him, has characterized these entities, generating in his brain a kind of utilitarian biography of each one of them.

The vast experience of my dog's life, in which I have participated, allows him to carry out, when I get home and he perceives me, a fairly accurate reading of my state of mind, which determines his actions. Indeed, when I get home, a glance is enough for him to see that I am grumpy. Then he ducks his ears and lays on the floor, his gaze fixed on me. If I'm in good spirits when I open the door, he pounces on me as soon as he sees me. His brain, according to what he perceives, activates convenient memories, which allude to information with meaning contained in the biography that he possesses of me, generating expectations of action.

We can affirm, metaphorically, that an entity "dwells" in a dog's brain that represents, as a unit, both the dog's body and the dog's interests. We will call this entity, which is represented in the brain, that is, it "dwells" in the dog's brain. By the way, using similar criteria we can affirm that a “monkey entity” lives in the human brain, or that “the monkey that inhabits us” is present in the brain.

In the Amboseli National Park in southern Kenya, the East African green monkey (Chlorocebus sabaeus) inhabits groups of 10 to 30 individuals. They emit loud cries of alarm if they spot a predator, shriek specific sounds if they go out to meet other groups, growl threateningly when fighting with individuals in their own group, and growl quietly during relaxed social relations.

According to the type of predator, it is the sound call they emit, distinguishing three in particular: leopard, eagles and snakes. The alarm that warns of the flight of the eagle, induces them to look up or to run towards the bushes; hearing the snake alarm, they stand up on their hind legs and watch the grass; leopard alarm causes monkeys to climb trees.

The moment a green monkey hears the alert by eagle, the activation of memories related to the aerial environment is reinforced, drawing with greater clarity the diffuse aerial scene that was previously being represented in its mental correlate of the relevant environment, a scene that a moment ago he played a rather secondary role in the selection of the actions he was carrying out. The evocation of an eagle activates multiple memories that represent probable scenarios for the aerial environment, in a diffuse representation of said segment of the medium, where its brain places a flying predator. The predator, who is not being directly perceived, can either be ten meters from his head, heading directly towards him, or be within a couple of hundred meters. Faced with this uncertainty, the monkey's action is oriented to raise its head in order, using its senses, to have a more accurate representation of what is happening in its relevant environment.

The contribution to their survival expectations that the green monkey obtains thanks to the alert signal heard is evident, and in this sense the use of language is highly useful. This, despite the aforementioned uncertainty, an uncertainty that can be diminished through the action of raising the head and seeing the predator. For its part, the monkey that gave the warning voice has a more limited and accurate representation, in its mental correlate, of the predator, regarding its speed and apparent distance, its direction of flight, etc. For the monkey that emits the warning signal, fleeing and finding protection is notoriously better delineated, as expectations of action, than fleeing and protecting itself is in that of its congeners at the moment they hear the warning voice. Just a fraction of a second separates a very diffuse representation of the relevant aerial environment, from that which is achieved immediately after raising the head and seeing the predator.

  7. recently some semi-humans claim that the consciousness subject came to the surface because of the current epidemic!
they promote their silly theories of uniting the spiritual world with science!
all mankind should be aware of what's going on nowadays, all mankind needs is to know themselves, who they are, and how their mind works, and that humanity is the proud of mankind and that there is a huge difference between intelligence (the pride of mankind) and the destructive irrational meanness (malice).
the only truth mankind has is science (the progress pace of science is already so slow due to many reasons ) what some hallucinators doing will endanger science and leads humanity to the darkness again.
this existence is very complicated, it will take humankind thousands of years to think in a scientific method about self-concept or as they marketing for (the cosmological consciousness!)
no one knows what is consciousness, so how to merge the so-called spiritual world with science?! with hallucinations?!
the only truth mankind has is science, polluting it with their hallucinations will take mankind to the darkness no doubt.
all mankind needs is to rethink in wise logical way about the future.
human beings don't need more hallucinations! they need to be more wise, matured and being rational entities, taking in consideration that humanity and intelligence are the pride of mankind, leave the rest for science and the future generations through science.
leave science alone semi-humans, all human beings need is to understand themselves, and changing psychology is a smart wise way.
    right now nothing more.

  8. Love this guy he was my first introduction to philosophy of mind and he has a wonderful way to make very complicated ideas accesible for the lay person that is not a philosopher but is interested in philosophy.

And now I'm taking some courses online about philosophy of mind and analytical philosophy.

  9. I have watched a lot of these episodes, and Chalmers provides a good perspective of the "field" of opinions regarding the understanding of the basis of consciousness. Clearly there is no consensus on that "problem". Therefore I suggest renaming this series, "No Closer to the Truth" until someone can explain why no one can agree on what consciousness is. No one can define it. How can you expect to rationally explain something you cannot define? Try explaining that for a change.

  10. Right off the bat Chalmers straw-mans strong idealism by claiming “it puts humans at the center.” That’s not the monistic idealism of Kastrup, who has provided probably the strongest defense of idealism ever made. I’m not persuaded, but at least state the position fairly.

  11. Personal Conclusions from various sources "We Are All One Consciousness" for the following reasons:

    1. In this world everything must have a cause, so that something exists because of something else, as well as ourselves.

    2. It will be very saturating / boring if we have only one physical form in this world.

    3. It will be very saturating / boring if all human beings have the exact same physical form / behavior.

    4. Try to imagine emptying all the physical things around us only the remnants of humanity, then eliminating all human beings leaving only their memories, then removing all their memories leaving only their consciousness, then connecting that consciousness, feel who we are ??.

    5. Body, mind, feelings, emotions and everything in this world is always changing, so what never changes ??, that is our true self, which is true consciousness. If everything changes2 / moves who observes, there must be something fixed to be able to observe.

    6. All human beings communicate with each other is the beginning of the beginning / the future of human beings unite, only electronic devices today can unite all human beings, one day the device is implanted in the human mind and eventually man will open all access to his mind.

    7. Our body is a group / accumulation of memory accumulated brought from the beginning of the birth of the first human in the world through continuous DNA binding.

    8. Twins are born at the same time, what if all human beings are born at the same time ??. What happens if the birth of all human beings is not influenced by the dimensions of space and time ??

    9. The twins are identical to A and B, if the whole memory of A is copied to B, what is the difference ??

    10. The law of attraction (law of attraction) that our minds will attract whatever we think, because we are all like one part of the body.

    11. Like some of the video recordings of ourselves there is a video as a vocalist, a video as a violinist, as a pianist, as a drummer, etc. The video2 is made into one in one video then it will produce a more interesting orchestra, something new and more productive. our world.

    12. Man's greatest enemy is himself, at this time man is fighting against himself. By believing that we are all one, then the ego will fade because there is no difference between us.

    13. That is why the teachings of religion command us to be grateful and beneficial to many,
If you are hurting others you are actually hurting yourself, just as if you are doing good to others you are actually doing good to yourself.

    14. Could it be that we are all dreaming and our dreams meet each other at the same frequency in parallel. Have you ever, when sleeping dreamed of moving roles as someone else, it is because we are all one.

    15. We are not immortal as human beings so that we have time for us to scroll through all of life.

    16. "We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience" ~ Stephen Covey, Have you ever felt that our age is too short, could our consciousness be immortal ?.

    17. We are one, only the role is different, the memory block between life is what makes people feel different / separate. Just by brainwashing / erasing his memory then someone will be a different person but his consciousness actually remains the same.

    18. The lucky thing for us is … awareness is always towards / seeking / having intentions / desires towards good / positive / happiness despite experiencing various mistakes.

    19. When we die the body and memory are destroyed, how can we remember ever being dead.

    20. Why do we have to die? ", When we are told to die, later this eternal question will be asked again and we will always be there." The world is a sustainable life "~ Bruce Lipton

    21. In the beginning we were one, but split through a big explosion or bigbang to become different and separate as it is now, but we are provided with a sense of love for us to be able to be reunited later.

    22. There is only us and the mirror of ourselves in this world, yet there is another world out there.

    23. We will always smile happily seeing each other as ourselves "How beautiful I am" seeing a different self.

    24. If all consciousness is told now that they are all one if the experience gained is enough, the consciousness designed from the beginning is so different that there is so much intrigue, consciousness is created differently so that when it comes together it has an incredible consciousness experience.

    25. We are indeed alone in this universe, but there are still many other universes with their own laws of nature.

    26. Have you ever felt to come to a place that has never been visited but feel familiar with that place, as if we have lived in that place sometime.

    27. The world is like a script of a story that is being written by the author, sometimes changed at the beginning, sometimes changed in the middle, sometimes changed at the end it all depends on us as writers, and every story has wisdom that can be taken as a lesson.

    28. Hair grows on its own, heart beats on its own, blood flows on its own, ideas emerge on its own, etc., are we involved ??.

    29. Imagine today there was an event that caused only you to live in this world, then who are all the people yesterday ??.

    30. "If Quantum Mechanism cannot surprise you, then you do not yet understand Quantum Physics. Everything we have considered real all this time, turns out to be unreal." ~ Niels Bohr.

    31. In the scale of quantum physics we are all connected to each other, even in double gap experiments proving that particles change when observed or in other words awareness is able to change reality, this has been repeatedly proven by Nobel laureate in Physics.

    32. Everything we experience by our senses will eventually only be an electrical impulse in the brain, is it all real ??. We are beings who realize that we are conscious.

    33. We are closer than the veins of his neck.
He breathes some of His spirit on you.
Knowing oneself means knowing one's God.
Indeed, we will return to HIM. You are far I am far, you are near I am near.
    I am everywhere.
Before the existence of this world there was no material other than Him.
The True Spirit is only One, the Creator.
    I agree with your prejudice.

    34. Whether the Creator is only tasked with creating, is it possible that the creator does not want to try the results of his creation through another perspective.

    35. There is no reincarnation, it is possible that our consciousness is synchronizing, our consciousness is divided by the speed of light so that consciousness can move and divide quickly through energy, and that is why we need sleep, that is why we often do not realize something, that is why the size of the earth is reached by the speed of light so that consciousness is divided quickly and evenly, we are like some chess pawns played by a player, that is why if we move at the speed of light, then we can penetrate the dimensions of space and time, when we die we wake up and regain consciousness as long as there are human beings living in this world.

    36. Have we ever had a problem and suddenly someone came to provide a solution to the problem we are experiencing, as if someone was sent by the universe to help us in solving the problem, which is actually our own awareness that sends that person to us.

    37. A thousand years ago did human beings see, hear and be trapped in their hearts about current technological advances ??. If we all tend to sin (damage) then it will be the world of hell, if we all tend to do good then it will be the world of heaven.

    38. Knowledge learns objects, God who created our consciousness, does not allow God to be objects of knowledge.

    39. It is not possible for human creation which is only in the form of words / symbols to represent true truth.uyty

    40. Is there a meaning of being without consciousness ?? then we are adventurers of this existence.
    Sy
    41. The life of the world is just a game and a joke, the one who wins the game of the world is the one who finds his true self.

    42. When the existence of the world ends we will know everything.

    43. My consciousness undergoes a very extraordinary life experience, feeling life experience with different forms and different places even though in fact my consciousness is always the same, wow .. I was surprised !! how wide I am.

    44. Consciousness in fact does not know the concept of time, consciousness can experience / undergo into another physical form because the dimension of time can be penetrated by consciousness, as when we imagine we can act as anyone without time bound, because in this universe time can in fact materialize free, time can move straight, curved, rotate, etc. Our time travel is when our consciousness moves to a new physical experience.

    45. We are an awareness, a concept that is able to answer various things.

    46. Remember when you were going to leave, you were worried about losing me ??, calm down .. I was everywhere and we would always be able to meet again, believe me.

    47. Without searching what is the difference between us in this world and us in a dream while sleeping just passing by without meaning

    48. In conclusion, whatever role we play, it is all our own design, so just enjoy.

    49. God created us to be Happy, so do not disappoint God.

    50. Understand it and be Shining.

  12. Hello sieur .the human consciousness isn't just the human being's awareness for all the phenomenes that surround him in this materialistic world ,human consciousness is bigger and deeper than this it is fondamentally an existentialistic topic,it should be a mankind's awakening through spirits and Minds ,thé human consciousness is the way of seeking for thé human semetism ,sublimity,it is spirits and Minds working for the protection of thé mankind ,a rethinking about moral human values such as peace,Love,freedom,dignity,respect,solidarity,forgivness……..Mankind should be proud for the developpement and progress that man realised in differents sectors of life but shouldn't he be aware of the risk of deviation when in progressing hé will find himself in a process of selfdestruction ,weapon's empowrement, biological War,…….furthermore life and thé whole universe are founded on a godness parallelism, balancing and designe,thé beginingof life started with a mâle and a female Adam and Eve that was a sacred godness design unfortunatelly in our days WE saw people celebrating a wedding where a man got married to a doll wasn't it a self destruction of man wasn't it an insult a destruction for women's existence ,thousands of pretty, kind, clever, educated, skilled women passed unseen didn't they deserve to be loved and Seen.

  13. The blackhole in the center of the galaxy integrates the information in the galaxy.. dark matter and dark energy is connected by the singularity..

3 dimensions of dark energy.. 3 dimensions of matter.. 3 dimensions of dark matter.. the matter is the integration of dark matter and dark energy as it relates to the higgs field created by the galaxies blackhole..

    All comes from 0.

  14. Consciousness has to do with dark matter and dark energy.. space in motion.. as the wave equation of electrons in atoms goes through its motion. Space is pumped through the volume of the atom.. this same principle applies to the body of a living creature which allows consciousness to arrise..

Basically space in motion through the physical dimensions is what allows consciousness to happen.

The space flowing through the brain is the medium of consciousness..

Gravity is explained in a very similar way as well.

The space flowing through the mass is what warps the local spacetime.

Time is also the result of this same phenomenon.. and so on.

  15. God is defined and Truth- consciousness-bliss in Yoga.
Our true self is consciousness. Mind is a lower form of consciousness. Mind has to practice self inquiry to find ultimate reality, God.

  16. CONSCIOUSNESS is non physical and non local. See NDE accounts, many by Doctors, surgeons, nurses and end of life practitioners. Also Bob Olson.

  17. Anyone using the word "resonance" or "frequency" to explain consciousness shows they don't understand what those words mean.

Now what do these pan-psychists actually mean when they suggest that electrons have a little bit of consciousness? Can that theory produce falsifiable (testable) predictions?

If not, then it's a fundamentally useless and meaningless idea, and belongs on r/im14andthisisdeep

  18. It's becoming clearer that with all the brain and consciousness theories out there, the proof will be in the pudding. By this I mean, can any particular theory be used to create a human adult level conscious machine. My bet is on the late Gerald Edelman's Extended Theory of Neuronal Group Selection. The lead group in robotics based on this theory is the Neurorobotics Lab at UC at Irvine. Dr. Edelman distinguished between primary consciousness, which came first in evolution, and that humans share with other conscious animals, and higher order consciousness, which came to only humans with the acquisition of language. A machine with primary consciousness will probably have to come first.

  19. I think we are not observing very accurate all details that belongs to a search project, or a study to a special topic.
If it weren't so we would hear more about informations transported through our blood to our brain and in connection with our heart, which is the central emotion sense detector, that is responsible for the sensitive transistor of the brain-mind awareness.
We shouldn't forget that informations from within, are the basic data for a human individual in his development. All external informations build the larger storage department, while targeted indoctrination is purposely lead to the sensitive sector where it is emotionally registered and recorded.
Consciousness is not independent, it is more like in a super-position, a condition that cannot recognize if it has been manipulated or not, that's why we were never aware that we are not us unless we start thinking on our own.

  20. This gets very interesting around 5 minutes in, were the discussion moves to "integrated information".
But how does all that brain information fuse together? How does information integration give rise to the experiences of perception, color, taste, sound..? Information integration clearly describes what is happening, not how.
It does look like maybe a kind of computation is taking place since the fusion doesn't happen continuously, occurring instead as fresh updates of the full sensory image every so many milliseconds, which is then experienced as continuous somehow; so that thought seems closer to the easy problem than the hard problem.

There doesn't seem to be much doubt that a quantum process/process's are involved since the kind of parallel processing and feedback loops across physically separated parts of the brain that is required, doesn't seem to be reproducible without the magic of quantum entanglement, non locality, etc..
To get a continuous experience happening, the information has to be getting around by photons or entanglement which do not experience time.

There seems to be a boat load of work left to do figuring this jigsaw puzzle out.

  21. Every discoveries, every innovations,Science, development ,emotion, everything we knew, we learned since our birth on earth are part of consciousness.I think no one will be able to understand or explain consciousness .It is beyond human imagination. We are conscious when we are alive, who knows we human may be conscious even after death.

  22. To some of us consciousness is not so much as mystery as it is a gift, the "gift of life" is nothing less than the "gift of conscientiousness."

Even atheists, without facing the realisation, have a belief in something metaphysical. They go along with the idea of the Big Bang and since, according to them, ALL matter came into existence at that point and there was no matter before it, that is then a metaphysical event. I do wonder, if the belief in a creator is verboten, yet I do wonder if there is one, then "God" is not the greatest mystery at all. Professor Brian Cox is on record that "it is a myth that science has disproved God" and gave the reason "we don't know what was there before the Big Bang." He is right, the Big Bang was rejected by Fred Hoyle (who coined the term Big Bang in a derogative way, but it stug) because he was an atheist and it sounded too much like creation. So rejection of God is more a philosophical stance, a world-view, rather than science, whatever you believe. Look up philosophical materialism.

  23. Consciousness (probably) exists but it has no control. We can't control our thoughts. You can't just structurally recite all your memories. There is no control whatsover. Your consciousness does not tell your brain what to think, it's aware of what your brain thinks. It's just there for the ride. It might as well not exist at all.

In a universe without counsciousness, where everything behaves exactly the same as it does in ours, there would still be intelligent life, wondering where their minds come from even though they do not have a conscious mind. When I think I'm sure I am conscious, it is really my brain that thinks it is, while my brain without consciousness, would think the exact same thing. It does not matter if there really is a something that experiences these thoughts. Outside of our own experience, it is completely irrelevant. You can never attribute any event or change to consciousness. It does not matter what laws of nature are the way they are because of it because it's always there. Consciousness can be said to be fundamental to reality because without it, nothing becomes 'real'.

  24. If you think about it there is no outside physical world. Everything happens inside of your skull, in your consciousness. You have never seen the real world from first hand. What you call reality is just bunch of data in your brain. And your brain is also part of this illusion. Actually everything happens in your consciousness. Space and time are all part of it.

  25. Interesting but naming all those extremisms and in betweenisms I can’t see at all what purpose it serve other than like to enumerate all the different perspectives or like the whole spectrum of possible relations to the same thing. No philosopher since the beginning of time and hopefully not until the rest too has ever pondered about how consciousness or experience or call it what you will arise out of material or physical stuff, rather the two were always clearly separated from the beginning as it were that’s to say philosophy begins with what they might call thoughts in general or ideas. But speculation about the arising makes as much sense as speculating about how any animal or some its movement today , say something a human may do voluntarily, then asking how has that arisen from some ball of energy or fire fourteen billion years ago. A normal person easily spots the nonsense in such speculation or sheer futility thereof but the regular philosopher for some reason does not the root cause of which I myself can best trace back to something what we may only refer to as a highly dysfunctional faculty of common sense, whatever tho the precise reasons of the disfunction be

  26. You are what you eat. Food affects your consciousness. How and why? Your stomach isn't your brain. Is there a consciousness specific to each of our internal organs? A cognition of the liver, spleen, heart?
The focus on the brain is due to what exactly? Neurons and synapses are more susceptible to physical modeling than gut bacteria? More prone to prediction? Why should the future play any part in scientific inquiry? Why should understanding insist on prediction? Does understanding arithmetic give one prophetic power? Does a calculator prophesy answers or does it just go through a process fast?
I think the answers to consciousness do not undergo scientific scrutiny well. The intentions of scientists get in the way of understanding.

  27. I can lucid dream, which means when I dream I know I’m dreaming. So I can tell that I experience qualia when I sleep. But unless I keep my short term memory active when I wake up and then store it in long-term memory even I forget what I have experienced.

  28. 1. Consciousness is holding the same place in the universe what it holds in a dream.
    2. A dream,Including every body living in the dream is observed by consciousness which is not a part of the dream.
    3. The universe, including every body living in the universe is also observed by consciousness which is not a part of the universe.
