It encourages cognitive development. It strengthens the hand and fingers which helps with fine motor skills.

You will need:
3 tbs sugar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup corn flour/corn starch
2 cups water
Food coloring

Place all of your ingredients (except for the food coloring) into a saucepan on a low to medium heat and stir for about a minute.
Then increase the heat to high for another minute or so stirring continuously.

You will notice the corn flour will start to separate into clumps. Don’t panic, these will stir out & become one with the mixture again.
Turn the heat down to medium and keep stirring until your mixture thickens.

Let the mixture cool down then place into your desired jars/cups/paint pots.

Add food coloring to create your desired co-lours and mix well (don’t forget to show the kids how cool it is to watch blue & red turn into purple etc).

Homemade Edible Finger Paint is perfect for babies aged 6-18 months , toddlers and children who are more likely to place paint covered fingers into their mouths. It is also a great paint for their ‘first’ painting experiences.

Painting aids your child develop mobility skills. Their hand muscles are being used, which allows them a scope to develop both mentally and physically.
