EP58: Steven Pinker: Enlightenment & the Muslim World

Secular Jihadists

Steven Pinker is the Johnstone Professor of Psychology at Harvard University, and the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Better Angels of Our Nature and most recently, Enlightenment Now, which Bill Gates has called “my new favourite book of all time.” He joins us in this episode of Secular Jihadists for a wide-ranging and truly fascinating conversation about Enlightenment values, religion, humanism, “reform,” and other topics as they pertain to the Muslim world.

  1. Identity politics of the left are the racist act of elevating tribal difference for political power. It’s as disestablished as the white ethno-state people

  2. Ali just threw Trumpism in the same bag as Jihadism. Trump has driven Ali insane- he has MASSIVE Trump derangement syndrome. Will Ali ever stop pretending most Trump supporters are all bigots? It is pathetic elitism. Get over yourself Ali.

  3. This was fantastic. So many interesting ideas and arguments in this one. I liked Armin's distinction between reasoned contributions to secular morality (e.g., from the Greeks) and blind assertions that have accidentally contributed to secular morality (e.g., from Christianity). I don't think I've ever heard that point made in quite that way.

  4. His idea of Martyr is total outlandish whiteman rhetoric. Thats how he thinks a Martyr is. Not that hes ever been one. idiot talkin about his own toxic idea of martyr n his inner devil just snitched him out on the sly real quick like "thats a pretty toxic idea." n he sleepin so he dont even see any of that.

  5. hes just makin stuff up to even when he says "fighting" terrorism. theyre brain dead. you dont have to combat and fight terrorism especially if you restore the doctrine and see how much more effective the greater jihad is. They wish they could pull Jihad like that but they cant and I aint gonna let em. He can go ruin his own stuff in his academics n wake of enlightenment stuffs. and im sure hes a nice guy and all but I aint really here for him n his Bart Simpson Circus

“best form of jihad.” “And our beloved prophet … said to him, ‘A word of truth in front of a tyrant ruler or leader, that is the best form of jihad,’” Sarsour told the crowd.

  6. dudes like Pinker dont even realize theres a whole inner science n inner jihad that lay the groundwork for enlightenment n other such phenomena. He thinks you read that out of a book or go to Wal Mart and pick one of those up real fast

  7. in actuality here you got Steven Pinker using Taqiyyah and Kitman n if you call him on that this is what he will say "im not using that at all. thats not what this is. this is different." and thats game. Pull the words right outta his mouth with jihad n leave him silenced. The devil work dem bois in mysterious ways. He didnt know is all. aint no biggie. shit happens.

  8. Bill Gates did far more to benefit humanity when he was running a for-profit business than anything he has ever done afterwards. People wrongly think he is a better man now that he gives his money away. Microsoft’s for profit enterprise changed the world for the better and provided a way for billions of people to make a living and become wealthy. Dumping his fortune into charity is nothing in comparison to what he did when he was making profit. Gates is a hero for his entrepreneurial profit seeking, NOT for his pitiful guilt-ridden philanthropy.

  9. God taught me everything I know and apply today. Was like a voice that came out of the air. Like a schizophrenia but i really nice and claming one. a super tranquil one when at the time my own self and feelings was misery doom and deathlol. Now we gonna learn why I went and cancelled I.Q. as a social construct. youre welcome 😀 https://www.patreon.com/posts/sample-of-spell-23002393
