  1. I took Brian's figure fundamentals online, and I have to say it is a great class. He is great at explaining the basic form concepts, and I definitely want to take again a few more times to help digest it all.

  2. The leg resting on the chair has got to be off. Starts too low as it comes out from the pelvis. It's too smoshed. But it's still a great clsss. Thanks.

  3. I have the 500 sheet ream of Pacon and haven't noriced any inconsistency at all. What exactly are the problems you have encountered with it?

  4. I continue to be impressed by all these free Watts Atelier demonstrations/tutorials, including the couple I've seen with Brian Knox. I do have one comment about the two demos (like this one) that Brian has done: the heads look too big to me. Not by much – maybe 1.5 to 2% too large – but they still read big to me.

  5. Hey Brian Let people know about the impressionist artist Rober Moore who is red/green color blind. You would never know it!! He uses grays to create his color harmonies and makes sure he keeps his red and greens on different sides of the palette.

  6. The imagine fx magazine produced a 'anatomy edition' it's the 1st magazine in a specific series. It covered human anatomy and animal anatomy. Ron Lemon covered the Riley method and industrial method and Marshall off Proko draughtsman series covered the animal anatomy. It's almost the same quality as any textbook. There's a new book out 'Figure drawing for concept artists' that briefly shows how to use the Riley method. I'm not sure why people are so hung up on Riley, brilliant artist but it's a system he designed, based on another system. Artists should cover and research as many systems as possible to find which one fits them. It's like a carpenter turning up on a job and only knowing one way to do a job. All trades, including artists, (they are plying a trade after all),should have a mental toolbox that allows them to problem solve and work efficiently. Top video.

  7. The ream of 500 has worked awesome for me. Maybe just got lucky, but this solved a major problem. The rough texture newsprint is everywhere and it suuuucks. I couldn't get the smooth anywhere even in a fairly large city, and the strathmore or other tablets give you a meager amount of sheets for 20 bucks. I got the giant ream for like 15! That's like a years supply even if you do figure drawing a ton. And for the typical twice-a-weeker it's like 2 years, just keep it covered, cool, and dry.
