  1. Well, actually, the USSR was about to be ruined, so it wouldn`t have seemed so weird))   And he`s so Amazing, such a talented guy who knows how to tell the stories)) The fourth horseman)

  2. I like the way he ended his speech telling us the greatest threat to the world is American militarism. It has millions of blind followers.

  3. Goddists no longer claim that god exists, only that believing there is will stop you from raping your mother, as if this how atheists entertain themselves. As if Swedes behaved worse than Americans.

  4. Godel's ontological argument is one good argument for a god. Then there is my own version of cosmological argument that is true if panphysicalism is true. These are rational arguments and so the belief is rational.

  5. Dan Dennett is my intellectual hero too. And most of what he said in this talk sounds reasonable and even true. But! He still seems to have no idea about what he talks about here. It would be useful tom first of all, define what the phrase "Believe in God" actually might mean to a believer. Otherwise all this talk is just jibberish, or should I say "turkish".

  6. just o let you know, I work at a catholic college while being an atheist ( not to mention a loner with alpha male characteristics). I see the confusion all the time in the students!!

  7. Please give a few moments to take a look at my GoFundMe, and help support by donating… please see my story and find it in your heart to never give up on God, or yourself. God Bless you all. gofundme.com/tr4bx-n

  8. Now I believe in God! Dennett had all those medical personnel work on him and he's still alive? It's proof of miracles! There must be a God protecting him. You've made me a BELIEVER!!! Professor Dawkins has made me a believer!!! Praise Jesus!! Praise Jesus!!! It is an absolute, incontrovertible miracle!!
When he gets the bill it will be a miracle… of accountancy. He'll be alive but he'll wish he were dead! Unless he's like many people I know who have 100% coverage through their state jobs, in exchange for the great services they render educating and protecting the rest of us.
I'm headed for another Bible study in the local state hospital if they can't protect me from myself again SOON!!!!!!! Oh lordy lordy I can feel it coming on NOW!! If that silly brown Hindu quack is still there pushing Jesus to "Cowboys" and "God's Children" she's going to have a real BEEF with me now that I'm no longer a vegetarian.
Her mother tastes great with Brussel sprouts and a nice red wine by the way. I don't like Broccoli.

  9. I would say now that Christians are hateful, deceitful and uncaring to anyone who doesn't agree with them. A year ago I started to question the absurdities in the bible. After much thought I had decided it holds no true place for me. Many of my once friends have left me for it, claiming that I needed to think about the wrong I've done. The wrong I've done? What wrong? They are horrible people who don't care about the ideas of others and turn their backs away from anyone who isn't one of them. I still think some are good, as many of my Christian friends are still with me as they aren't as religious. Either way, Christianity is a hateful and xenophobic ideology, and it like many other religions hold no place in our modern society other than for fools to debate on.

  10. This is fun! Thanks a lot. Many many “thinkers” have influenced my person and my life, but until today, maybe none has done it as Daniel Dennett, one the others is Haruki Murakami.

  11. Just briefly on the point of hell: isn't it amazingly paradox, that believers say, that god gave us free will to do bad aswell as good, but if you do too much bad u burn in hell forever after your death?! In this short, often shitty life, that you didn't even choose to live, you can do so wrong to suffer eternally afterwards?! I mean WTF.
Still, for me it's pretty clear, that i want to live a "good" life, i prefer being "good", it's a great feeling. But in this world you can easily be driven to bad actions, especially when you are left behind by society.

  12. I've worked out why churches ring bells. It's to scare God away. God is evil and wants to get us, but He is afraid of the loud sound of bells. This is why churches ring them regularly. It stops Him from coming down from the sky and killing us all. It's the same with Islam. They have those prayers played out really loud several times a day. It's actually a secret spell that keeps God from descending. We should all thank churches and mosques for saving us from the evil sky monster.

  13. Dawkins – God does not absolutely exist , didn't have anything to do with creation, has nothing to do with consciousness, got nothing to do with morality, is not a good designer, God does not exist, ok. Student – how did we get here and how can we know truth? Dawkins – how the hell should i know? Trust your own brain on truth, even though it formed by complete accident from swamp mud by even more chance accidents after coming from absolutely nothing so of course you can trust your own material brain to know truth, so you can trust my brasin to know truths on how reality works.

  14. If peanut ( or anything such as religion) makes you more, better, loving, caring, is that deserving not to have? peanut is good to some but to some die because of peanut. And others gets so rich because of peanut. If it is helping you, why get rid?

  15. see, heres the thing
religious people,as a whole, end up living better lives
so god or not, thats a thing aint it?
heres an example of what im getting at
believing a gun is loaded whether it is loaded or not turns out to be a pretty good policy
some beliefs ARE FUNCTIONAL WHILE UNTRUE, are you getting my drift here?
the assumption is if a idea is untrue believing in it is harmful
    THAT ASSUMPTION IS UNWARRANTED
there are beliefs that are unprovable or flat-out untrue
that if you ACT AS IF THEY ARE TRUE lead to beneficial results
if you kinda half way believe what YOU KNOW isn't true IS TRUE then you get a pay off
    THATS FAITH MY FRIENDS
its fucked up but there you go
    god bless us all

  16. In his analysis of Wilson's factual/practical truth distinction – which he neatly eviscerates – Dennett both anticipated and demolished Jordan Peterson, who uses thousands more words to express the same profoundly wrong concepts. Bravo, Professor Dennett!

  17. Why are atheist so caught up in trying to disprove religions and not just supply real scientific evidence. These nobb heads spend so much energy hating on religion but who gives shit about religion. Think about he talks about Dan not wanting people to pray for him , then made the goat joke. Dan gave dicks that's Jesus toy. Dan then open his PowerPoint about hating on religion. It genuinely seems they have more passion about hating on made up religions. Is that all this stuff is about spending all their energy disproving religions. Or focusing on teaching a science point of view of our world. If you can't understand what I'm saying then fuck you dumb dumb.

  18. No denying Daniel Dennett and Richard Dawkins are very intelligent men, and very well credentialed in their fields. What pretty much summed up for me what this talk was going to be about was after Dennett handed Dawkins the Jesus action figure. I mean is he seriously going to explain to a room full of atheists reasons to believe in God when he is one of the four horsemen of atheism. Here’s some advice for atheists and believers (I don’t what I am). No one knows anything, the atheist will attempt make to make intelligent arguments to disprove God. The believer will make intelligent arguments and will never prove God. Just enjoy each day and don’t even think about it just too mind-boggling.
