9. I am engaged in automation and CNC production. I’m not at all worried about being replaced. People like me are the last ones left at the factory… without us everything will break down and not a single robot can fix it.

23. It's a great message. Ai is a tool. Machinists are tool experts. Ai will never replace the machinist, because the machinist will use Ai. Anyone who's worked in a shop knows: Technology fails, and at the worst possible times. There is nothing to fear in the robots, and everything to scrutinize about the corporate agendas funding said robots.

24. Ok time to say the truth. I’m both a cnc machinist and a manual machinist. Been in business since 1999. Manual machinists and cnc machinists are not the same. Both serve a different purpose. A cnc machinist can make complex parts and produce on a high volume. What you all forget is the big urgent repairs needed on existing equipment. Turbines, pumps, hydraulic cylinders etc…. My production cnc work is almost non existent anymore. China is way too cheap. But my manual machining work is booming.

25. Just think there will be a time when tool compensation will be done in real time with the accuracy of a CMM. I can see the entire workflow of design of assemblies and machine parts through CAD cam to a CNC machine, which is a complete digital workflow, with the feedback of probes for CMM type accuracy.
    This is going to close the skill gap.
    I can see top secret projects with high level security would stay in a current workflow.
    You need to examine your paradigm

26. people don't seem to understand that if your jobs get easier due to AI… you are less skilled and there's no need to pay you as much because any monkey can change bits on a machine. there will be 1 programmer in a company using ai, and 5 guys maning the machines producing 10 times more than before. but the programmer will get a good wage. and the guys on the machines will get paid much less than now. might as well be shelf stacking at the supermarket. a classic case of can't do it without the programmer, but the machinists are easy to replace because it's now a simple enough job.

28. Im 51 and 100000% Green to CNC Machining now im currently in classes for it. Its an accelerated course with Maritime Focus on Submarine parts. I want to be successful with this. And Gonna need help 😭😭😭😭

32. I asked ChatGPT to write a CNC program for writing my name PETER on the upper flat plane of a workpiece…. but the result was very poor. I gave ChatGPT all the information that I have to think about when I write the program myself. ChatGPT continued to fail. This is the most easy task to do on a CNC machine. Machining parts and thinking about setup and tools and parameters will always stay as a human task. ChatGPT will never have the intelligence that is incorporated in CAM and CAD software since the beginning in the eighties.
    I fear that AI will generate catastrofical accidents in machining.

33. Love the show but your not quite understanding how AI works. You should try asking Grok to make CNC G-code. It beats out Chat- GPT now. Grok is programmed for maximum truth which will allow it to learn how things exactly work. It’s not the AI that will replace us it’s the robots with AI integrated into it. We’re about 10-15 years from it. If you don’t think it can think for itself then ask it a philosophical question. Warning: You might actually get scared. 😂
