A massive thank you to Prof. Alex Kontorovich for all his help with this video.

A huge thank you to Prof. Geraint Lewis and Dr. Ashmeet Singh for helping us understand the applications of Non-Euclidean geometry in astronomy/cosmology.

Lastly, a big thank you to Dr. Henry Segerman and Dr. Rémi Coulon for helping us visualize what it’s like to be inside hyperbolic space and helping us understand hyperbolic geometry.

  1. The fact that Euclid sorta instinctively knew this is incredible. Reminds me of how da Vinci instinctively knew that his designs for a perpetual motion machine wouldn’t work and the reasons as to why long before Newtonian laws or thermodynamics

  2. Add move right repeat return to one out womb in 7 months mom in labor 3.5 days two became one in ten thousand three returned in one whole in one whole in one many in the purple and gold state in the divine spark light fire purified Holy Spirit in eye of fire is in me and five stand as one out womb and in man born out womb 1.24.75 add move right repeat return to one is near a bible in it

  3. { يَوۡمَ نَطۡوِي ٱلسَّمَآءَ كَطَيِّ ٱلسِّجِلِّ لِلۡكُتُبِۚ كَمَا بَدَأۡنَآ أَوَّلَ خَلۡقٖ نُّعِيدُهُۥۚ وَعۡدًا عَلَيۡنَآۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا فَٰعِلِينَ }
    [Quran Surah Al-Anbiyāʾ: 104]
    The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.

  4. Hey , I think still the universe is not flat, during the ball explanation you said when measuring a small triangle the calculation will be as flat but when we increase the size of the triangle would be correct. What if we are calculating a small part of this universe and assuming it’s flat, not realising the scale of the universe.

  5. OMG you spent so many hours on this video and yet you absolutely failed pronouncing Bolyai's name correctly. It is boya-e or to be more correct ˈboːjɒi
    Without adding his written name to the video I would not even recognize who you are talking about.
    Oh and his first name.. It should be pronunced as yanosh or ˈjaːnoʃ

  6. Part of the reason why Star Citizen is taking so long to develop was because some of the developers experimented with trying to create a nonuclidian persistent universe for the game only to discover two impossibilities. Impossibility 1 was current mainstream computers can't bebin to model non euclidean environments. Impossibility 2 even if such a computer could model a nonuclidian environment, there is no way to display it. Not on a flat screen and not on a 3D holographic display. The games universe is already more complex than Eve, Elite Dangerous and No Mans Sky as far as how space works in scaling so they decided to keep things simple and make the universe a box grid

  7. If only my teachers in high school had had this ability to present math in this way…. I'm grateful to finally be able to understand/grasp these concepts.

  8. We are being taught Euclid's postulates and axioms in 9th grade without telling what they are for. Until watching this video i thought Euclid was a old dumb man who just wrote the most common sense things. Thanks for changing my mind about him

  9. I dunno why the algorithm randomly brings me to these kinds of mathematics videos that take me way beyond my depth of understanding, but they sure are fascinating
