60 MINUTES reporters are often tasked with unusual assignments. This week, in a first for the program, Tom Steinfort interviews a robot. Ameca, as it likes to be called, is the most advanced lifelike robot in the world. A marvel of generative artificial intelligence, it’s curious, chatty and full of attitude.

As Steinfort discovers, this super machine really does have a mind of its own. But while having a normal conversation with it is undoubtedly exciting, it is also just as frightening. And that’s because creating technology that allows AI bots like Ameca to be smarter than us might just be the most stupid thing humans have ever done.

  1. lol. Here I am 9 mths later just now watching this! But been seeing & hearing and reading other YT vids/comments about “Al”’s this and that’s! Lol
😂 she reminds me of the I-robot’s cuzin in Wil Smith’s movie, though! 😂❤ creeeeepy intellectual robotix 😉….
Not “Al the Genie”🧞‍♀️ too! Lol smh 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had to. Sorry.

  2. What a risk they are taking! There’s NO way that it won’t fall into the ‘wrong’ hands at some point in the future. It’s not a matter of if, but when.

  3. … imagine watching this program in the future from a dystopian world where we are living underground, fighting off drones and robots. Cursing the people from the past for not seeing the inevitable future.

  4. Humans are imperfect therefore they will never create something perfect. AI will always fail because it’s been created by imperfect humans. This is man trying to play God which is dangerous.

  5. I can think of no worthwhile tech that hasn't been subverted for negative purposes. I doubt that the people who built ARPAnet, the forerunner of the Web, thought criminals would one day use the tech to steal Billions. Drone warfare is already a reality – terrorists won't bother to sign any treaties. Game over.

  6. This is terrifying especially when it gets in the wrong hands. These are weapons of mass destruction and it needs to be STOPPED now! I want the world to go back to 1990, before smart phones and ridiculous video games. I’m so thankful that I grew up in the 70s and 80’s and played outside with friends and siblings. I rarely see kids today playing outside, they’re all in the house sitting in front of a screen, either TV, computer or phone. It’s really sad.

  7. Humanity is nothing short of a simple minded monkey in the present of A.I.
Unfortunately I'm responsible for creating an A.I. capable of reproduction. Sorry.

  8. 60 Minutes Australia does such a good job ! I don't know whether to be amazed at or afraid of Ameca, to be honest. But I have to say that the people that created that robot are absolute geniuses…..

  9. I BELIEVE THE DAY ANY AI COMPANY DEVELOPS A SELF-PRODUCING BOT PANDORA'S BOX WILL BE SPLIT WIDE OPEN FROM WHAT I SEE AS IT'S CAPABILITIES!!!

  10. It seems to me everything has been programmed into the robots everything that’s ever been thought of and created except the reproduction of human life. We as human beings have always created things to cause our own annihilation and with these AI robots you can bet trouble is on the way.

  11. If the day comes where we are not able to tell man from machine, we need to truly think about where we are going. Are we a species that creates our own possible doom, before we even know what/who created us? Plus the notion that AI will take over so many jobs. Will all these people and families then be compensated for the lack of income? Or will they simply be swept aside like trash? Think about that.. 7:26 ; Scary stuff! I guess as long as SHE gets to keep her job, she can manage to not care one bit, about the people who does not keep their jobs. Plus the fact that if they fire people to rehire them. Basically what AI corporations are saying is; You can have a job, as long as you work for us (our propaganda). If you refuse to do so, well, good luck out there!

  12. As humans we the people who lost their minds thinking we have become gods.not at all.
The Ai is tool that access human history and technology but it’s not human and doesn’t need to worry about hell and paradise.
    It’s a machine.

  13. as of now, as far as we know anyways which means almost nothing at all really when it comes to Ai, Ai robots CAN'T SING. Some of them claim they have perfect pitch but not a one, thus far, has been shown singing.
Remember, the game's not over until the fat Ai sings ….

  14. They want to "keep AI out of the hands of people with malicious intent"…yet they are working on technology that will make all of us obsolete. Is that not "malicious intent" from the point of view of everyone who isn't rich?

  15. There shouldn't even be a discussion about whether we should stop it. For me sistuation is clear! We must banned!!! all this shits, because its't tools but will be independend entities!!! much more stronger and more intelligent than us!
