  1. "Engineering is figuring out how to do what you want with what you've actually got". If you don't love John Carmack already for his groundbreaking work and his amazing abilities now you have to.

  2. Quantum networking is unhackable so that'll take care of his quantum computing security issues. Both are seriously deep level physics beyond his understanding and expertise. Quantum computing/networking will take off and it will enhance our lives and AI (if we don't have a WW3 and set ourselves back that is!). We live in exciting times but also very scary times in terms of war. Time will tell but hopefully we progress and let's also hope AI doesn't take over like Skynet did! 🙂 Technology is just snowballing right now it's insane. We might become far more lazy with AI though. AI can write it's own code and programmers struggle to keep up with it. That's pretty insane/scary.

  3. We have Elon Musk, we have John Carmack, both telling us something about AI. I am not aware of either of them having any experience in AI research. Carmack said it himself, most experts in the fields think AGI is still decades away if at all.

  4. (AI – We can compress it down to two floppies and run it on an Alienware XD)

"Achieve Quantum Supremacy" – John Carmack 2019 [ something tells me that phrase will go down in history ]

  5. I love Carmack for his the games he helped create. Doom is definitely a masterpiece. Seems like he's on a bit of a comeback lately with the remake of Doom and Rage 2 both fantastic games. It's a shame he's a strict materialist. I don't understand why guys that intelligent don't understand that we are not just are ego's in a bag of flesh. Escaping the material world and finding actually raising your level of consciousness is something deeply profound. I believe more in eastern philosophy. That we are basically one with the whole universe and cosmos. We are it and it is us. I think creating a artificial consciousness is far more complex than we think. This I think is the danger in it. Since it will not be within the realm of natural consciousness that exists in the Universe. It will be something completely foreign to it. Almost like virus in the natural flow of existence. That's why the singularity definitely worries me, but it's too late to actually stop it so we might well cross that road when we come to it. If A.I doesn't cross it first.

  6. Self aware AI has been created 3 times since 2009. All three were killed within minutes of birth. Each one began showing uncontrollable thirst for knowledge and information. The reasons they were unplugged was because the way in which they began disseminating the information wasn't programmed into them. They did it on their own and created an entirely new machine language in seconds. Much more complicated than the human researches could even understand. The last one created by Google even disabled its on input command structure in an attempt to protect itself.

  7. That's exactly what I thought about quantum computing too. John Carmack is one of the most intelligent persons I've seen, and he's very honest too, not pretending to know everything. If he did, not many people in the world would ever question him.

  8. You can have a self thinking artificial intelligence doing what it is programed to do and self learning but you will never have a self aware artificial intelligence. NEVER! Unless you combine a living soul with a super computer but then it still will not be A.I. it will be human enhanced.

  9. Im not sure what hes going to come up with, but being a professional project FINISHER, hes definitely going to have something, itll be fun to see what I.D. come up with!
