Probably, the most famous Russian american painter, and a legend of art history. He studied philosophy, started a family, created a group of painters, visited Italy and then around the age of 40, he became the painter saying stuff like : “I’m not an abstractionist. I’m not interested in the relationship of color or form or anything else. I’m interested only in expressing basic human emotions: tragedy, ecstasy, doom, and so on.”
His work his often around 100 million dollars a piece and irony of the story he didn’t like money, and even when he started to make big money he hardly changed his lifestyle. And then he just died.
