Hi my name is Katherine Lawson and I am one of the artists featured in the upcoming exhibition, Preface. My current studio practice is based on the manipulation of pre-existing books and texts, and I’ve also started creating my own books works.
This interest in working with books in my studio practice stems from a long standing interest in the relationship between theory and practice. Not just art history and theory but also incorporating my interest in literary theory or cultural theory, and this interest is also linked to a great passion I have for researching and writing about Knowledge. And knowledge in terms of the production and recording of it but also our retention of knowledge and the institutionalization of knowledge.
