The nazis were not the greatest mass murders in history. They killed around 10 million people. However Stalin killed 25 million and Mao was directly responsible for the death of over 50 million people.
PS: The USA have butchered over 20 million civilians since WW2 ended. Vietnam, Corea, Nicaragua, Panama, Lybia, Iraq etc. etc.
I've never been an fan of "Modern" art. I prefer the works of the Impressionists. But that doesn't mean I have the right to censure and destroy the work I don't like.
And ask yourself WHO got Adele's diamond choker? Her family didn't get it.
Adele's widower was never given the chance to give the paintings to Austria, because Austria STOLE the paintings before he died. Adele's will was clear; her HUSBAND had the right to decide what to do with the paintings.
The Utah museum is to be commended. They behaved like decent human beings. They could have fought to keep the the painting, but chose the ethical path.

What is truly disturbing is that Nazism is again being resurrected, in America and Canada. They wear the mask of the GOP in America, and the CPC in Canada. Humanity must never drop it's vigilance against evil, because it will return, given half a chance.
Hitler was a horrible person with an evil agenda, but I'm sure they weren't honest when they said he was a failed artist…I mean those paintings looked impressive, at least for me.
This is a bogus story. Adele Bloch-Bauer, the woman in Klimpt's painting specified in her will that it be left to the Austrian government for the public to enjoy as an icon of the Vienna art world. She died, and her husband held on to it. Years after the war, the Austrians built an beautiful Klimpt gallery to house this painting, So this greedy niece comes along and misuses these laws to get the painting. She waxes romantically about growing up seeing it, but as soon as she got it, she sold it for hundreds of millions of dollars. And now the Klimpt gallery has mainly 2nd rate paintings to celebrate Austria's most famous painter. This is a story about greed not justice.
I don't understand. Up to this date there are tons of monumental artworks from all over the world in Europe which they have stolen mostly from their old colonial countries, or the ones they have attempt to invade.

To think that the art world was ruled by such people ,Jews according to Hitler, I too would have slapped such a person if I came across them. But not the way Hitler did. SLAPPING IS MUCH MORE FUN.

The person quoted as "lawyer of Austria", probably for the Ministry of Art (maybe) mentioned that the Klimt works were meant to be donated to the museum…the aunt, Altmann, only mentioned the "collection" should go to her husband (neither anticipated what was to come). That lawyer is talking out of his proverbial "butt". She would not have donated anything to the people/ country that would subsequently want to eliminate the Jewish population.
