Physics Lecture:- Double Slit Experiments III :- Delayed Choice

ThePhysicsX

This video is a part of the “Physics-X” lecture series, taught at Michigan Technological University by Dr. Robert Nemiroff. Dr.Nemiroff is one of the co-creators of the popular website APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day).

“Physics-X” deals with some of the most extraordinary concepts in physics, most of which try to provide the Physics background behind some cool phenomena and theories like Time Travel, Special Relativity, Worm Holes and Black Holes, Quantum Mechanics, Parallel Universes, etc.

No textbook and no prior knowledge of rigorous mathematics, is required for the course.

In this fourth part of the Double Slit Experiments lecture series, Dr.Nemiroff discusses several experiments, that people throughout history have used, in order to try to break the double slit experiment.

How does one of the experiments seem to suggest that faster than light communication is possible? Watch the video to find out.

  1. btw in the experiment where you put in the third polarization filter after the first two ones, erasing the information. Do you get a wider/smaller pattern depending on if the third filter is closer to the slit or closer to the target screen?

  2. That would be amazing. The thing that confuses me is, that a single photon can not be polarized orthogonally therefore the quantum eraser should not work. I'm probably missing something.

  3. Single photon quantum eraser? Are you shure this has been done? And if this has been conducted do you have a publication für further reading?

  4. Alain Aspect's very firm conclusion after having performed the delayed choice experiment is that it is NOT some kind of "mechanical" aspect of the measurement process that collapses the wave function. In my humble opinion the results (perhaps even more so the eraser version of the experiment) strongly suggest that the world around us is the result of computations. Are we living in a computer simulation?

  5. Alain Aspect is a French physicist who has himself verified the delayed choice experiment, and who is often mentioned as a potential future Nobel prize laureate. His description of the wave collapse does not seem to fit with "your" version (search for "alain aspect tuesday evening lecture" on YouTube and watch from 1:02:40 – he is very clear about what is NOT happening).

  6. At the speed of light time doesn't exist. At the electron/photon interaction a time front begins, slower then the speed of light. Which, is entangled with every photon from its origin, like freq. matching tuning forks and the quantum linked photon telescope. Do we have infinite time fronts (photons interacting with electrons) controlling time in the Universe?

  7. you said we can CLICK on that link, which is that? do you have a website? the starship asterisk is just a forum as far as i can observe. pls provide more data and links to light-math-heavy-on-concept psychics 😀

  8. What is the difference between last example and the example with delayed choice whether to put the glasses on? Why is the answer different? I would think that in the both example it should depend on user's choice?!?
