Consciousness: it’s a mystery that has confounded philosophers, psychologists, and scientists throughout human history. Where does our first person sense of experience come from? One of the leading theories today comes from Stuart Hameroff, an anesthesiologist at the University of Arizona. Back in the 1990’s, he had a clandestine meeting with Nobel Prize-winning physicist Sir Roger Penrose, and together they came up with a profound – and controversial – new hypothesis that our brains construct conscious experience from quantum mechanical processes laced into the very fabric of the universe. Now 30 years later, evidence in favor of their theory is mounting thanks to incredible new findings by Director of the Arizona Astrobiology Center, Dante Lauretta, who also recently captained NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission. That mission collected pristine samples from an asteroid that dates to the dawn of the solar system, and inside they’ve found clues that the quantum nature of consciousness might have preceded the formation of life on Earth. Lauretta thinks that further study could solve another great scientific mystery: the origin of life. @uarizona

I have had 2 Near-Death Experiences. The first was at 5 years old during drowning. I woke up in the water and wasn't struggling to breath anymore. I was screaming and fighting for my life. I was fine now. I can recall every thought I had,my thoughts were all I had now. I had a conversation with myself. I wanted to go up higher out of the bottom of the pond. I agreed. As I went I realized I was afraid of heights
I told myself that's silly because I'm already dead (I can't fall and die). I stopped at tree top high saying that's high enough for now
I can go higher later,because I was just getting used to this. I wanted to take it slow. I enjoyed the view from that height. Then I thought since I can hover I can fly. I knew my body was at the bottom of the pond, but I felt just like me. A young female voice said "Don't go yet. If they find you soon you might go back. " I though go back? That's not how death works. You don't go back. I knew that much st 5 years old. I thought I will be good for a little while but I don't have to listen to anyone anymore. Alot more happened ,including coming back to the pond and seeing my mom and sister had now arrived at the pond and were sun bathing. I could feel their thoughts not hear them. I heard nothing from this world. I was separated from it although I was still in it. Nobody could hear me but once a boy walking down the highway infront of the pond answered my question telepathically. I asked where he was going.
Why does this matter?
1. After the drowning I continued hearing voices that guided me. Voices of wisdom.
2. When I was 16 I was kidnapped and raped and prayed that I wasn't even on this earth then I wasn't. I was on space looking down at earth in the night sky.
3. When I was 25 my son yelled gor me , he screamed his brothers name. " Mom! JEREMY!" I left my body and hovered over the field while praying. Suddenly I knew he fell in the creek and panicked .The Bruce said it easnt that deep if he stood up he epuld be fine. I them said Jeremy calm down stand up it's not that deep. 20 years later Jeremy told me he had heard me praying, that he hovered over me like a drone.
4. Soon afterwards I had an ectopic pregnancy. I knew it was but my doctor assured me I was fine. I died in the ER and was shot like a rocket through space,through galaxy and galaxy then was suspended in bright white light. Thete was a conversation with beings then I said Who else will teach them about you then was back. I refusrd to be discharged because I knew I wasn't fine,I just died and came back. So my doctor admitted me, saying there is nothing wrong with you. The next morning I was taken to ultrasound- I had the biggest ectopic pregnancy the hospital ever saw.
6 throughout my adult life I have saved lives because voices told me to go right now, I suddenly knew things O had no way of knowing.
8. Most recently, I cured my husband's incurable cancers with dandelion root tincture. The name of my memoir is The Will of a Wildflower . After my 5 year old drowning the voice showed me thete is a strength inside that flower that helps it grow. 60 years later I knew that message was meant for now that wildflower would cure my husband's cancer. If I was lying or crazy ,than why did it quickly cure him of the incurable? I'm not intelligent enough to make all this up. My knowing comes from that quantum field you speak of. You smarty pants need to study us dummies who had these experiences if you want to learn.

Cognition itself depends on the stabilization of information: without it, no event could be represented, formalized, or known, and the very act of understanding would be impossible. The real is neither stable nor unstable in itself; such properties exist only relative to cognition. Fundamental theories operate at the limits of the information-stabilization window specific to human cognition. Quantum mechanics explores regimes in which structures become too unstable to be represented as discrete events, while cosmology and extreme gravitation probe regimes too global, distant, or totalizing to be integrated within finite cognitive experience. In both cases, formalism persists, but cognitive meaning thins: what remains intelligible is structure without intuition, coherence without full representability.
Because all knowledge depends on stabilization, any amplification of cognition—conceptual, technological, or artificial—also amplifies the risk of saturation. Beyond a certain threshold, increasing cognitive power no longer expands intelligibility but undermines it, transforming local gains into global fragility. This implies that progress in formal capacity does not guarantee deeper understanding, and may instead push inquiry toward regimes where structure remains, but meaning and shared intelligibility erode.
A critical next step is to identify the tipping point: the threshold at which cognitive amplification, including via artificial systems, exceeds the capacity for human stabilization of information. While the tipping point itself requires empirical investigation—potentially through neuroscience and experimental modeling—its formalization promises to bridge conceptual understanding with practical limits of cognition.
This framework defines the space of all intelligibility: any variation that preserves its core principles remains valid within it, and any radical alternative exists only by redefining the foundations of cognition and information stabilization.

I think thee investigation of microtubules is interesting and worthwhile. The rest of it is really sad. What NASA is doing is an absolute waste of time and money. In addition, neither of these guys have any idea what consciousness is and they have spent their life working on it. It is really sad that people continue to try to approach consciousness from a material standpoint. Physics has already proven that space-time and matter are emergent from the Quantum Vacuum. Come on guys, you can do better than this. Even if you look at the very simple concept of irreducible complexity you know you can never get to consciousness by accidents if “bumping particles”. I could help these guys in understanding consciousness but I’m sure their grants wouldn’t pay them to arrive at the truth….it would be way too damaging to the tyrants that ultimately fund them, lol. Oh I know, maybe they should go look at the real work done by guys like David Bohm and Wheeler. It’s frustrating to see public funds wasted on deception like NASA puts out.

Very interesting topic and one I have an interest in. Just a production note as I was a video content producer for 15 years. Folks …. you DO NOT need music in the background of a discussion.
