  1. Basically sums up Scott Atran's work but leaves out Robert Pape's complimentary evidence for it because that would be an insult to the audience and the larger western civilization. These guys never bring up the direct effects of old and new western foreign policies in the middle east since the industrial age of oil. But at least atheist's are creeping along now suggesting that we have an influence that as a byproduct creates radical Islam. Eventually will reach truth, or just read Noam Chomsky.

  2. the reality is.. atheist fear Islam. a bunch of cowards picking on Christians. why don't you people attack Islam without fear? soon you will be thanking Christians for saving your asses! you guys are lucky….

  3. Why would an atheist fear any religion if they do not believe in one? Atheist view the world through objectivity and empiricism, which is to judge and test things without bias or emotion. Religion has been the drive for many major wars throughout history. Atheist don't care about what your beliefs are, if you black, white, gay, straight, they just care about understanding how the universe works through provable methods. We don't argue about whose petty imaginary friend is better than the other.

  4. Okay fine: you want to base your morals on the Sharia. I don't want to base my morals on a book that says I should kill anyone who decides to be rational and lose faith.

    Your turn.

  5. Atheists have absolutely no reason to fear Islam. Allah, as far as we can tell, has never done anything to anyone. Islamists on the other hand, they have a tendency to react violently on their impotent god's behalf.

  6. There will always be variation when referring to specific ideologies within a "group" I was speaking more or less on the basis of those with a higher intellect, that would lead them to seek answers from objectivity and empirical evidence. Atheism is not an institution, it has no authorities. The point is to liberate the mind from irrational bias, seek truth and live life to it's fullest extent. For we only have one life to live.

  7. Why would atheists fear religion? Why would we be afraid about religion telling us that we're going to hell? That's like a child telling their mum and dad that santa isn't going to bring them any presents on christmas day.

  8. What? No matter what kind of group you have there will be a spectrum of intelligence levels. I don't care if you're if you're smart or not. I was simply stating that with higher intelligence the methods through which you justify your atheism tends to be more objective and empirically focused. You my good sir are putting words in my mouth. I didn't call anybody a lesser being at any point regardless of their views and I don't care either unless if effects how I live my life. Have a nice day.

  9. I don't think it makes you more intelligent, it just so happens that some of the most influential scientific figures of our time found their way to atheism through their work. There is obviously no pre-requisite to not believing lol And no it is not an easy journey, especially if you've been indoctrinated into a religion from youth. It was definitely a long journey for me but it became easier as I became more educated.

  10. @TheInconvenientTooth Rejecting god claims doesn't make you more intelligent on the whole, simply on this one specific question. For people who continually assert that Einstein was religious (beyond a vague deism), even if he had asserted that christianity &/or judaism were true, he would've been a moron on that point.

  12. I don't know why a dumb fck like Ayaan Hirsi Ali is doing in that panel…..
she couldnt even make up a good lie why she fled her country and came to the netherlands . She got caught and almost got kicked out, and now she fled to the States . How ironic

  13. Science does have music. Music is a science.
We also have things like They Might Be Giants' wonderful numbers "Why Does the Sun Shine?" and "Why Does the Sun Really Shine?"

  14. I think the troll meant that Atheists fear followers of Islam, not Islam itself even though that is what he/she wrote. I agree with everything you say though 🙂

  15. YELLING DOES NOT MAKE YOUR POINT AT ALL. YOUR RELIGION HAS NOT SHOWN ME THAT IT IS ANY OF THESE THINGS, AND HAS SO FAR BEEN A POISON IN THE WORLD FOR THE LAST COUPLE HUNDRED YEARS. So sorry. I've read the Koran, not very impressive but very disturbing. How you look past the violent passages and nitpick the peaceful ones honestly and shamelessly is beyond me.

  16. That's why this is priceless. We also got Dawkins and a couple of other old dudes.

The fact that people that people actually take this panel SERIOUSLY and regard them as experts is even more hilarious.

I feel bad for a lot of people who watch this video and believe every word.

  17. Religion is an obviously fictitious, man-made phenomenon. It will prevail as long as childhood indoctrination and societal pressures remain. Chop those off and it will swiftly evaporate.

  18. Theists can meet those criteria?!?
    – Faith: firm belief in something for which there is no proof
    – Superstition: a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation

Children have more validity for faith in Santa Claus. Society gives them EVIDENCE for this (bite out of cookie, tree full of presents). Has there ever been any for any God?
    No
Maybe there's a use for a god concept (see placebo). But religion?
    No

  19. The concept of "supernatural" is always changing. In paralel to the development of the science. The "line of unknown" is moving away as long as we are bold enough to test it. Scientists are doing it all the time and pushing away the "supernatural" line. And normal, intelligent being is able to reason and to plan. This is done by taking evidence and extrapolating the outcome. So far through our few thousands years of science, we are only prooving nonexistence of "supernatural".

  20. He's a cheat and a fool, sufficiently destroyed by countless youtube users, never mind those among other media. Why should he waste his time beating a dead horse?

  21. 1. as reason and logic has increased in the ages, atheism has too. 2. religion correlates with poverty, warfare, and corruption very well. ie, the poorer a country, usually the more religious they r. and these countries will usually continue to be poor, because their indoctrination of religion caused by their poverty, keeps them poor. its a sad cycle that has countless examples. 3. science has discovered wat was once unknown, religion hasn't done much other than split the world into chaos

  22. Atheists don't attack Islam partly simply due to proximity and geographical location in the world but also because a cartoon can lead to people being murdered in the streets by radical Islamists. No educated atheist/secularist is "afraid" of Islam intellectually, only society has to be careful with the barbarism you are dealing with when Islam is criticized. It just goes to show you how terrible Islam is as a moral guide.
