I think this is the case:
Human are capable of learning any meaning and being able to learn the meaning, they also are capable of using it creatively.
Whereas in case of AI,
Even if we try make them understand the meaning (that will benefit nothing but will rise to the complexity of the programming) they won't understand that and will see it in an algorithmic way, and most importantly, they won't be able to use it creatively.
If the heavens and earth had followed there desires, everything in the heavens and earth would be destroyed.

Very interesting discussion. As someone who has an introductory knowledge of machine learning and AI from my ongoing bachelor's, I definitely see that in essence machine learning is no different than a normal computer program. At the end of the day, it is an extremely complicated set of conditions that are executed.
The reason people believe that they can be conscious is that these people think we humans are just an arrangement of atoms, so if we can be, then why not machines.
